Default Bag Trim

As a 6 week veteran of the Cross Country, I have to ask.....is the plastic channel trim that Victory puts around the lower edges of the bag lids really necessary? In the hot weather the glue holding it on goes all gooey and it sticks to the seal. Can I take it off and clean off that nasty glue with no issues?

I'd be worried about the lid excessively vibrating while riding, prematurely wearing out latch, hinges, and corners.

After speaking with my dealer, apparently this trim is delivered in the crate with every bike but is rarely fitted. Apart from the bag lids there is also a bit that sits on the front edge of the front fender.
So, in essence, it appears no issue to just rip it off.....except for the front fender bit, that will be good for stone chips.
