Default Hardball soft lower closeouts install question

Where the plastic hard pieces go? The instructions state to insert the plastic peice of each closeout between the frame and the plastic battery guard. I don't see how this is possible?

Can anyone enlighten me on what the solution is?

Yes, you have to push the plastic pieces between the cast side covers and the battery cover.
