Default Air Ride Suspension

Anybody here running air ride on their XC?

Im a big guy and ride 2 up about 30% of the time. So i guess my questions are

#1. Can you be too heavy for air ride?
#2 How hard is install?
#3 Can you post a pic of yours if you have it on air?

I'm currently running a stock front wheel and am thinking that a 21 is about as large as i will go up front (but thats in the future). My bike is not a show bike by any means, but i would like to see it sitting low as i walk away/to it.

Oh also, I'm looking at an instant up AirFX setup (if that makes any difference). Thanks in advance.[/B][/B]

Instant air is the way to go. I have a platinum air and compressor is a POS.

Actually if you have it adjusted correctly is pretty smooth. If you just air it up and don't have the right feel for it then its like a pogo stick

Dan, did you install yourself? If so how difficult was it.

If not how much was labor (if you remember)

I had my 23 done and lots of other things at the same time. He had 40 hours in billable. I know he spent more time. I'd say the air part was maybe 250-300 of it.

What you need is a dual chamber air system. One air chamber for ride height and one for ride stiffness. Single chamber air ride sucks ass and is pretty much just to drop the bike when you park it so you can look cool.

Those bad boys are expensive.

The guys at the shop here install air ride on Harleys where the swingarm is used for an air tank or there is a separate tank under the bag. It's nice to have an air tank so you're not waiting for the compressor. Some of the dual-chamber systems w/tank can cost a few thousands dollars.

There's a bunch of 26", 30", and 32" baggers with dual-chamber air ride front and rear in my neighborhood. Lay-frame or landing gear... These boys go hard and spend some serious coin on the bikes.

Fun stuff man. Yeah I got mine for 900. But compressor is way under powered. Needs a better compressor and an air tank and better switches. The micro switches they supply are junk. Needs to be re engineered. Great shock though.
