I hope everybody had an enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend. I personally have been dreading this weekend since the death of my wife in February, her birthday is May 29th. Little did I know that our two daughters had conspired to keep me entertained. The youngest (Shawn 31 years old) had made plans to fly to Cody and had contacted my boss (and friend) and requested that he make me work at least half a day on Friday. She also contacted my brother who lives 30 miles away and conned him into distracting me so I didn't load up the camper and jet off to the woods for a few days. Living in Arizona she didn't realize that Memorial Weekend is notorious for crappy weather in northwest Wyoming and there was no chance I was going to commit to camping or a long bike run. I had actually just planned on sitting on my pity pot all weekend feeling sorry for myself, that all changed Friday afternoon. Shawn arrived unannounced delivered from the airport by my brother.
We kicked around and entertained ourselves Friday nite and Saturday working around the yard and with company. Saturday nite I suggested that if the weather man didn't get cranky maybe we could ride the Beartooth Pass from Cody to Red Lodge in the morning and she jumped at the idea.
My wife Teri and I had ridden the Beartooth many, many times. Sometimes in good weather and sometimes NOT!! This time proved to be the "Perfect" day to take a putt up over the pass which opened for the season on Friday. Shawn and I took some of Teri's ashes with us and spread them at Long Lake which was one of her favorite places to stop and have a snack or picnic lunch when we traveled the pass.
For those of you who have the Beartooth Pass on your bucket list don't let all the snow scare you off, the temps ranged from the low 50's to the high 30's and although the wind was screaming up above the timber line it was still comfy with just a jacket although I cheated and put my chaps on, a little elk hide never hurt anybody.
For some reason my image files won't download so I'll try Google Drive and link them. The forum says that they're invalid image files so let's hope the links work.
