Default Noise Help

I know it's hard for everyone to describe a sound and even harder to help diagnose, but here goes. The best description I can give is a chirp/squeal. I can't tell if it's coming from behind or under. When my wife was riding with me, she couldn't tell where at either. I know it ONLY does it while accelerating. If I pull the clutch in and rev, it won't do it. When I let off the throttle it will stop (if it was doing it). I just started hearing it a few weeks ago. It runs fine, I just hear the noise. I have about 9500 miles on it, 2013 XC with Stage 1 kit, purchased used a few months ago. I initially thought it was something with the Exhaust because if when I hear it. But now I think it might be belt, but not sure since I don't know what that sounds like. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a belt that is too loose and/or not properly aligned/centered. There is a process for adjusting the tension and alignment in the service manual which should be followed. When following this procedure, keep the axle nut slightly tight so that the tire can be moved by hand but takes some effort and make sure to push the tire back in its slots on both sides firmly prior to performing the alignment test after each adjustment of the axle/wheel alignment bolts.

Default obvious first

just thinking out loud...before anything else...have you cleaned the belt I had the same symptoms you described. could not align or tension the belt without making more noise. A buddy suggested simply cleaning the belt with a damp rag and dish soap. I also hit the ribs with a brush. No more chirp on acceleration!

Yes it is easy to align and tension the belt, but it may be even easier than that.

Good luck

download a manual to your computer. All CC's are the same for pretty much everything. Am sure its the belt

I gave it a quick clean last night, and during my ride today, the sound was either gone or hardly noticeable. I'll know more when I get home and ride without a helmet with less traffic. Plus, I'll be able to check the deflection on it.
