Default Cross Roads 'bars on the XCT?

G'day and a very happy new year to all.

I've decided to look at changing a couple of little things on my XCT in preparation for an interstate trip with riding mates later this year.

I absolutely love this bike ( okay - the gear change could be a lot better, however I've made peace with it now!) as a long haul tourer but am aiming to personalise it just a little.

One of the things I'd like to change is the standard handlebars. I feel that the controls are perhaps a bit too high and a bit too close to me. I thought that XC or Magnum bars might be a little shorter and lower but the part numbers look the same.

I'm wondering if Cross Roads bars might fit the bill and give me what I'm after.

Anyone here fitted them to a XC or XCT?

Well I know the XC bars have 2" more pullback than the stock XR bars. I put XC bars on my XR for that reason. It was cheaper to get a set of used XC bars off ebay than to buy the 2" pullback bars from Victory for the XR.

Don't suppose you'd still have your standard XR bars and be interested in selling them?

Default Bars of shorter reach

Ozpacman bars of a different length. I have a 2011 XR, the stock bars were shorter by about 2" under the stock XC bars as mentioned. So myself being all of 5'7" in height and having always leaned forward on my bikes I wanted something just a tad shorter to make myself lean foreward a bit. I got a set from a mechanic at a Victory dealer off Vegas 8 Ball. Now the ones I got were black and about 1/4" shorter in length or what about 10mm. Now 1/4" does not sound like much but it can make or break the bike for comfort. Also I think I paid about $60 USD for them used in good shape. The dealers are replace handle bars on new bikes quite often so you might talk to some of their mechanics, sometimes they have them laying in the back room. So do not rule out a set of bars off a different model of Victory. I gave my stock ones to a friend already.

Buckeye, Arizona(USA) 2011 Victory Cross Roads, Black police bag guards, black engine guards, black handle bars, Triumph Tiger mirrors, Triumph hand grips, set speedo/tach back 5" , adjustable timing wheel, Lloyzz Fuel Programmer III & air filter. Modified exhaust, made stock into 2 into 1. MRA windshield, Rotated front fender forward,relocated ignition switch, Bad Ace Fuel Tank Risers, Fat front tire.

Thanks for the info SB.

I did a 200km ride this morning and was taking note of hand placements and seating position etc and I'm now thinking that maybe even Vegas/Kingpin bars might work as well.

I'm about 6'2" and about 240 lbs in your measure so am looking for a bit of extra room.

Spotting a few on ebay that may suit.

have you loosen the pinched bolts on the risers and moved the bars to find maybe a better position

Thanks very much p.hunt but I'm thinking I might go shorter still and go with a set of Vegas bars and see how they suit.

Thanks VJ - I did try rotating my bars at the clamps however they are still a fair bit too far back for me regardless of where I position them. I think Vegas bars just might do the trick.

Well boys I can tell you that Vegas bars are no good on an XCT! Wasted many hours fitting a set this weekend only to find that the stereo and cruise control switches foul the fuel tank on full lock.

Back to the standard bars now!

It wasn't all wasted time though. Fitted another ABS sensor while I had everything apart and ABS is now working as it should.

Also took time to use some foam tap to pack to pack out the various plastic fairing parts whilst reassembling and now it's all nice with no buzzing or rattling when underway.
