Default 2010 vs 2014 switches - I lost my keys....

Hi, I lost my keys for my 2014 Cross Roads. I don't have my key code too. Bring my ignition switch to a locksmith to have another key done, he did it but my keys doesn't work on my saddlebags and fuel cap. He told me that I wasn't able to duplicate the key so he made another one and make my switch work with it. So, I have to order a new lock kit for my tank, saddlebags and ignition switch.... It cost 393 $ at my dealer. I fkund a set on e Bay, 225 $ but it works onky on 2010 Cross Roads. That's what I read in the description. The part number for the 2010 is 4012858-266 and from 2011+, the part number change. I guess the parts are the same, just don't understand the difference. The parts on the eBay ad looks exactly like mine too.

Someone knows if 2010 lock and switch can work on a 2014 ? Would be great to save a coile of bucks, thanks !

I know this is locking the barn after the horse is gone, but maybe others might learn from this advice......
Always, always, always carry a spare key in your pants pocket. It doesn't matter if for 2 wheels or 4 or ? You are always going to have your pants on. I've posted this before and got a barrage of replies saying they hide a key on the bike or car or ? Great, but what if your bike or car or ? got stolen? Then the thief has your vehicle AND its key. But not your pants.
What if the only key you have with you gets dropped down a storm drain or between the boards on a pier? Think about the "what ifs."
I find that spare is useful for locking/unlocking cases while the engine is running.
Now maybe someone can answer the OP's question--I can't.

I don't know, but you could go to the victory factory site: Motorcycle Service Parts - Part Finder | Victory Motorcycles Store
Put your year and model bike in. Look up your switch and write down the part number, then back out, look up a 2010 switch. Compare part numbers. If it is a match then you should be good to go.

If it doesn't match then maybe someone will know what the differences are and if they are just cosmetic or it really won't work.

Could the dealer not order you a set of keys with your Vin#?

On one of my other bikes I have the same brand top box as panniers, but different key numbers, they are still interchangeable, lucky me. But, given the OP scenario, I am now going to open up a new Evernote and log every vehicles key number. Great app for logging key information, why haven't I added this!

RICZ, don't worry, I learn what not to do next time loll.

The dealer can't order new keys with the VIN, you need the key code that you got with the bike.

I don't have the choice, I have to order a new lock and switch kit, 400 bucks to learn not to hide my keys too far next time. Can't find the answer if the switch from a 2010 work on a 2011+, just know the the part numbers are not the same so I'll order a kit for a 2014...

Thanks guys !

I'll bet the 2012 would work. Yes it would have different p/n cause of the cut of the key. But the bag holes and lids are all the same
