Unhappy Fuel Pump not priming?

2016 CCT with 46xx miles and the fuel pump won't prime like it should.

Thursday I rode to work, as usual, and when I left to go home I noticed the fuel level was a little low but I would fill up on the way home. I had about 15 miles worth of drive to do and then stop at the store .72 miles from my house. About 3 miles from the store the dummy light came on but I paid no mind since I was almost there. Just before the store the bike lost power and luckily I was able to coast into the store and right up to the pump. I assumed that the light came on late and she was thirsty ( so I apologized to Miss Pearl) and filled up with the same 91 she normally gets from the same store. Close the fuel cap, key back in the ignition, turn it to ON, flip the kill switch back to run and hear nothing but my HIDs warming up. Odd...so I try the start button and it turns and turns. I cycle the ignition switch and kill switch a few times and try it again. Still no start. Confirm Neutral with green light and roll the bike, try again...nothing. Checked the relay which says IGNITION/FUEL PUMP and it appears to be ok. So now what?

Wait for almost 90 minutes for the flatbed to arrive and take it to the local dealership where it has sat untouched ever since.

Any ideas which I have not covered? I am a little stumped as to what it could be other than the fuel pump itself.

Just guessing fuse or pump died.

Sounds like mine when the fuel pump died. I was fortunate, the closest dealer (100 miles) had a new pump on hand and replaced it the next day. Victory covered the cost of the pump under my extended warranty but not the $500 tow. Good luck

Have you tried starting it since? I had a similar issue, after sitting for 5 hrs or so it primed and started. Called Rylan and he suggested changing the flasher module as when they go they send Gremlins through the electronics.

You ever change out the fuel filter at all?
You buy the bike new?

Gave it almost 2 hours. Still nothing. Then the flatbed got there. Haven't touched it since it got to the dealer last Thursday.

I have not changed the fuel filter. I bought it new March 6, 2017 with 28 miles (before my test ride) and it only has like 4650 on it now. There isn't a reason to change it.

Update: The shop called me today to confirm what I suspected. Apparently they don't pay attention very well and I was as polite as possible with Megan, for she is a cute young lady and only the messenger, when she called and gave me the estimate.

Megan: Mr. Inman, this is Megan calling with an update about your unit. (I chuckled slightly)

Me: Ok, what's the verdict?

Megan: The technician has determined that your fuel pump has gone out and needs to be replaced. We have the estimate at $589 with parts
and labor. Is that going to be ok?

Me: Sure Megan. Charge whatever you'd like. I bought it brand new from you guys 5 months ago and it has less than 5000 miles on it so I
am fairly certain this is covered under warranty.

Megan: Ummmm, hold please.


So basically she came back after talking to Deb, co-owner, about it and said that it will be covered and they would call back with any further updates. That being said, hurry the fxxk up already. I'm missing prime riding weather and I hate not riding daily.

So I got my bike back from the dealer yesterday...I am elated to have her back HOWEVER there were several things about this which displeased me.
1. It took 2 weeks

2. Wednesday around mid day my bike was ready...I only know this because I called just before close of business to fuss at them and they told me it was completed a few hours ago...to which I replied "Well when did you plan on letting me know this?" No response given, just awkward silence.

3. It went in with a FULL tank of 91 octane. I filled it up at the pump and it wouldn't start so that's how full it was, 0.0 miles on that tank...came back to me with a 1/4 tank.

4. No courtesy wash.

5. Not even a "sorry for the delay" or anything similar to that...basically get yer shit and get out.

I proceeded to let them know that they will never see my cycle or me again. I will be going across town to the other Vic dealer even though it is 3 times as far.
Rant complete...I'm back on the road.

Pretty sad, and that's under warranty. I've heard a few stories of it taking up to 2 months, so you got off easy.

When my cams were done I had partially installed my PCV to make it easier on the shop, its a short run to the dealership, 21 miles. The one guy found some crud on the rear fender ( February in Chicago ) and cleaned it off.

No wash though, not even a spray job with a hose. I asked about a detail job when I took it in, they don't do that there. They have a local reference to do that.

The mechanic who did the cams says "You had a few connections off on the PCV". I said "yes, I just needed the FI and ECU to get me in for the cams and will be doing that when I get home. I also said I was waiting for the cams to be put in before I connected the MAP and TPS so I can toss a canned one in and start the tune from there. In fact, I mentioned it when I dropped it off that the controller was only 70% connected and pretty much figured you guys would have done it while the bike was apart".

So...if he thought it was a huge deal, he had the damn bike apart... one would think now the cams were in, as well as intake etc...that he may have plugged them into the MAP and TPS and Crank sensor? Nope. I guess the extra 5 minutes of labor was too much to ask.

On top of that, the front spark plug wire got hosed, couple scratches on the valve cover and frame by the tank...of course it was like that before I took it in right? BS.

Which is why I do 95% of my own work. Glad you got yours done though. Have fun!
