Default Sena Bluetooth dongle?

Okay so new to be bike has one of these Sena dongle things. How does this work?
Can't find documentation online. It looks like it has a button and a mini jack labeled mp3 but that's all I know.

Still can't figure out this wireless light up cheese wedge thing... Nothing comes up with remotes when I search on Google. Trying to track down where the wires are going in this rat nest.
Did determine prior owner is an idiot not leaving slack in wiring so rubbed until broken. Easy fix on that I have an air horn now.

The Sena dongle wirelessly connects to a Sena bluetooth headset after you pair them. The open connection is for a second harness if the bike added a second Sena dongle the passenger. I and my wife have had Sena headsets (SMH10) for many years and they work perfectly each and every time. My iPhone automatically connects to the Sena system everytime I turn the bike on as well.

If you don't want to use a bluetooth headset, simply disconnect that harness from your radio (square connector on the left side of the radio as you stand facing the fairing) and be done with it. Some people complain the Cross bikes didn't come with bluetooth. Well, yous did thanks to a previous owner.

All the best,

Mark

I have a Sena smh10 I believe it is. Not used it since I added fairing to my other bike.

So how do I pair the headset with the dongle? How does it work? Radio gets sent to headset instead of speakers?

Turn Bluetooth OFF on your phone.

Power your phone all the way OFF.

Ensure the bike is OFF.

Turn the Sena headset ON.

Press and HOLD BOTH the Sena headset phone button (small button behind the jog wheel) and the Jog Wheel

Turn the bike ON, no need to start it.

The headset should pair in under a minute and you should hear something like "pairing successful" through the headset.

Once paired, release both buttons on the Sena headset.

Turn the bike and the Sena headset OFF.

Turn the Sena headset ON, then turn the bike ON to ensure all is well. You'll hear something in the headset like "audio connected".

After you confirm all is well with the Sena system, you can connect your phone to the Sena system through its normal Bluetooth pairing operation.

You always want to pair the Sena headset FIRST before the phone. That way it ensures the phone will interupt the bikes audio if you get a phone call while riding. I've been on several conference calls and phone calls while traveling on my CCT and no one would know it. That's when I'm wearing my Shark Evoline ST 3 helmet. If you pair it with a shorty helmet, it may not sound as good.

I do have a few instruction pages I can email to you as a pdf if needed.

All the best,

Mark

Love the Evoline but I haven't tried using my Sena unit with it.

So there is no need to press the button on the SENA dongle that IndyVictory describes in order to pair it to a SENA helmet unit? Two other related questions. The dongle allows the Victory radio to OUTPUT music to the SENA helmet system, correct? The dongle does NOT allow a phone or other music source to INPUT music to the bike radio/speakers, correct?

Dongle is simply a output unit. It out puts audio from bike to headset/helmet. Mine is finiky. Sometimes it pairs, sometimes it takes a couple times of turning the bike off to retry it. I just have my headset configured to "music share" instead of throwing another $100 bucks at another dongle. I just didnt see any need. Dunno why they wired it up that way seems pretty stupid. Your both going to listing to the same radio anyways, so why 2 dongles?

Music share was not always a feature on the Sena units it was added in a firmware update.

So the output goes to the Sena is that why there is an external speaker on/off setting? Or does it play through the bike speakers and the headset at same time?

What about the mini jack port on the dongle does that go straight to headset bypassing radio?

I think the speaker on/off is so you dont hear it with headset running. There is a delay between when the sound is broadcast. So you end up with an echo kind of effect.

Sorry but I have no idea what the mini jack is for on the dongle itself.
