Yep! Woohoo! Scored myself a great 2010 XC in shiny black and she's a beauty alright
Stage 1 pipes and a passenger backrest are the only extras I think, it's got cruise too and with 86K kms so about 55K miles, just run in!
Obviously looked after, Sold new at my local dealership and first service in early 2014 so she's sat in the shop a while, maybe a demo, I'll find out more.
Had every service and as I know the mechanic there pretty well I rang and got his rundown on it, so when a friend drove me to the hills behind Byron Bay this morning I had a was of cash on me and my helmet gloves and sunnies and I wasn't coming back empty handed.
Cash talks and I got him down by 2.5K ...yeah Im a happy man.
Rode all day and I'm sunburnt,
Getting used to the different pedal layout gradually.
Tonight I'll make some adjustments bring the rear brake and shifter closer.
Gotta get on to C.R. and order another VICTORY HID system as the stock candles are weak as piss.
Already ordered a rear rack on eBay last night before I even got the bike.
Yeah I was that certain she be mine!
Got home to the workshop and dragged the Vegas out for a back to back comparison.
Apples and Oranges, horses for courses, I love em both!
the Starship Enterprise and my Hotrod Dogfighter.
Yeah you want pix I know.
Street ones are today, other 3 are from the ad.
Enjoy ..I sure am!
Of course you do.
Now it's too quiet, all I'm hearing is the whirring mechanical caucopheny that makes it sound busy...and it feels busy too after riding my Vegas beast...
Don't get me wrong it gets mobile and quick but for sheer balls the Vegas has it all over this XC.
That can be remedied though?
First up gut the pipes and fit glasspacks, a Lloydz air filter, a timing wheel and a PCV will wake it up....if that's not enough a set of drop in cams.
And softer grips and fast action throttle.
Need to work out how to get my Motorhead and ACDC, Doors, and Sabbath and Seger through the standard radio, theres plugs in the riders rhs bag but Im too busy riding right now to investigate.
Oh and now I know what buffeting is!...not tooooo bad but.
Australia Day here so drunks everywhere gotta be on the ball
Oh yeah fit an air horn too!
You guys are just waking up over there must be Saturday AM I guess as it's Saturday night here.

Nice scooter, not to crazy about AC/DC but Door and Sabbath are great. There is a plug behind the heat light you can plug a lead into and play a mp3 or ipod with. I ran mine to the handle bars and made a mount. That the easiest way I found to do it. You can control the volume with your radio volume.
Found an iPod in the bags, plugged mine in and it works, it's an ancient first series iPod got around 9 hour music on it
That'll do till I got the pipes?
Yea buddy. Nice bike. Screw the "timing wheel and PCV" scab-over. Just more junk to break. Get a Maximus or a PC X (or PCV-X) and get it directly flash tuned. Again, nice bike......LMYR
Some people claim the Maximus or PC X tunes eliminates the need for cams and timing wheel. If so; I'd say that's real plus if true and a money saver. They can remote tune them anywhere in the world there's wifi and internet. Maybe just internet. I haven't done it so I don't know the process exactly.
Seems like people fixed the buffeting issue differently. Taller windshield, crash bar lowers, fork-mounted lowers, bowl looking thing below the triple tree neck, etc.
I have a theory our body size and style has something to do with how the wind hits the legs and gets directed up which is why different things work better for different people.
The JTD crash bar lowers inside the forged crash bars like yours (lucky you) did the trick for me. They have a door on each side that once a year I open and once a year I close. They also adjust so more air can be directed at the engine on really hot days.
I have a few windshields that work well at directing the air over my head plus I use the Madstad brackets for full adjustability. Some say they look a little funky but the function overrides the form in my book on this issue plus I like they way they look.
over here in Minnesota USA there is pound ice hockey going on. There some of your blocks playing playing in it. Its 8 degrees outside and there having fun. Just thought I'd let you know where some of your country men are is all.
Hope you get many trouble free miles on your new bike
It's a common issue on these bikes. The bushings linked to earlier say they are for the foot brake lever and the shift lever. It has been so many years since I did mine; I don't remember if they have the plastic bushings but I think they do. Those bronze ones will fix you up permanently.
If I remember right; I had to massage my new bushings a bit to get them to fit the way they should. I don't remember if it was inner, outer, or both. Some Emory cloth did the trick.
Ok got that the best I'm gonna get it for now...immediate problem is when I took the footboars off the spring released now htf do I get it back in?
The spring?
The 2010 models have a hexagon shaft like the Vision. Went to the round shaft with the bushing in 2011 I believe. You can add a washer to take up the slack on the pin. I think it's easier to remove the mounting block with shifter attached for access to the pin. remove linkage and pull the bolt for the position setting. Then you can slide the mounting block out of the floorboard mount. I used a brass washer that I sanded down to take up the slack on my 10 XR. Took some time to get the thickness right, but took care of the slop.
Yes! Thank You!..exactly, that's what I found and was dumbfounded so moly greased and reassembled as I was missing valuable riding time.
The slop isn't so much sideways as it is up and down or back and forward if you get my drift?
Took whole unit outta slider and there seem to be play in that he's couldn't be sure.
Anyway was gonna move it back closer but the adjustment on the shift rod was frozen closest to the engine and spray and tapping would budge it , tried my heat gun too but not too hot cos I suspect a plastic bush in the rose joint.
Anyway back together and riding and apart from imprecise shifts she is total joy to ride.
Had the music cranking and must apologise for poking **** on music listening riders.
It's fun! Carving mountains with AC DC ( old Bon Scott edition) is high on the manic scale, hehe!
The lean angle is insane, ain't scraped her yet, off for more today, c ya!
