Sigh...……..that they did.
Yeah I certainly tried to rationalise not needing cams.....till I got em!
In a stroke of bad luck (getting taken down by a fkn big dog!)
my bike incurred internal gearbox damage as well as cosmetic, and had to have an engine teardown to fix it.
I got a mates engineering shop to do the job and while we had it pulled down I bought Lloydz Big Bore (100/109) and .495 cams with the spring kit.
So I sold one of my '61 vintage cars to pay for everything and more.
Turned a negative situation into ultimately a positive one!
Bike was off the road 8 months but when Id broke it in and got it properly tuned I was completely won over to cams!....Phenomenal difference when you get a Vic breathing properly..filling those huge cylinders that are the equivalent of slicing say 2 cylinders off a 440 Chrysler, 430 Buick or similar size Muscle Car V8
Get a Vic breathing and you got a true Muscle Bike!
I'm so convinced now that as soon as I bought my 106 Cross Country I ordered VM1 drop in cams, air filter, gutted the mufflers.
Then got the Maximus and paid the top tuner here to put it on his Dyno (not cheap)
Cams are the heart of the engine.
Fortunately I'd sold another car and had the cash to 'just do it'
Hey ya only live once!...just heard a good mates getting chemo for throat cancer!
I wouldnt personally go into debt for anything but Im old school, the world runs on credit, instant thrills pay later.
I say go for it if you really want Grunt...."Just do it!"
