Default Problem

2012xr
Riding to work yesterday I noticed my light on my speedometers started flickering intermediate and then my engine light came on for bout 5 minutes
Then last night on my way home the same thing without the engine light coming on the bike is running fine
Looking for suggestions on what to check
I will be checking the battery connection later to make sure they are tight and gonna check the connection in the speedo to make sure that there is no loose connection is there anything else to check

You're starting at the right places. Are you getting any fault codes?

Check your breaker down by the battery. That seems to be common suspect component. I had to replace one on my XR

Default Battery

You've starting right (as mentioned). When you're through checking the battery check the battery connections then pull the battery and have it load tested. Very good idea to check the breaker as well. Then make sure the battery is ok..... Most likely the battery is not right. Keep it simple as these bikes are finicky when it comes to the battery otherwise it would probably throw a code. Keep us posted. ;-) LMYR

Did you wash it or ride in the rain lately? If yes, I'd be pulling plugs apart and cleaning them up.

I think I found the problem had the negative battery cable was slightly loose tighten the cable and the positive just to be sure I'll know in the morning if that was it

Thank you for the confirmation. I find a need to ensure my battery cables are tight about once a year. Even with external star washers on them.

All the best,

Mark
