What's the farthest you've ridden for something trivial?

Got this idea for a new thread based off comments from another thread.
So what is the farthest you have ever ridden for something trivial?
This is where you started your ride saying I would like this and you rode to get it.

Mine was an approximate 135 mile one way ride to get a piece of apple pie in Julian California. After finishing the pie I rode the 135 miles back home. I was probably only in Julian a little less than an hour. So about a 270 mile round trip. About 3 hours each way on mostly 2 lane mountain roads. Yep the pie was good.

This was exactly what came to my mind when I read this thread title.

The wife and I rode with friends for about 5 hours for some icecream. We knew where we would end up, but getting there took some doing. Between dodging rain, closed roads and a few gravel "paths", it was 62 miles, but an honest 5 hours of seat time.
I've never wanted to stand up so badly... :D

Define trivial...

I rode 125 miles one-way to eat lunch at a really good barbecue joint. I'm from Texas, so BBQ's not trivial :)

Admittedly, the ride there was for enjoyment, not straight-line, but I knew where I was ending up for lunch.

.
I get it. Maybe I should have said "what others would consider trivial "
It's like my Apple pie ride. I tell people If I have to explain it you still wouldn't understand.

I have ridden to Julian for a slice of pie on a rented Softail... It was a really nice ride up the mountain and back.

My wife's parents owned a B&B in Julian, but we were staying at their hotel over in Leucadia. I rented a brand new FXST from Kenny Moreland (Moreland Choppers) and the bike only had 300 miles on it.

My friends were doing a 'gathering' in Buchanan, VA (around 4-1/2 hours from here) and I couldn't make it due to prior obligations that weekend... my friend, Turtle Joe, was in the same boat with me... prior obligations.

But I called up ol' Joe and told him I wanted to ride down and have breakfast with the group and come straight back. He thought it was a wonderful idea, so we decided to be kickstands-up at 2:30 am. We arrived at the restaurant first and were sipping coffee when the group showed up.

After breakfast we all rode North on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Waynesboro, where Joe and I peeled off and headed home. So, probably 10 hours in the saddle and almost 500 miles to have breakfast with a bunch of asshats.

I rode 288 miles to the other side of PA for a friend's 40th birthday party, just to wish him a happy birthday. Rode back home the same day. I don't think my trip from PA to Bike Week in Daytona, FL counts, but I really went for the free pin. I did end up getting a couple t-shirts while I was there.

Buddy of mine was from Deltona Fl.. he took us there for a putt once when we were down for bike week.. so I guess you could say I did that too. :)

I don't know that I've ever chosen a destination that would be considered trivial and rode a long distance... we used to make it a regular habit to 'ride for breakfast' back in the day.. sometimes it would be a late lunch before we stopped/arrived/needed to take a piss. :) Sometimes the goal was to put a full tank through before stopping to do so.. so I guess that qualifies.

A couple of friends and I met up in Independence, KY to do a 1 day trip to Hillbilly Hot Dogs in Lesage, WV. We liked it so much we made it the lunch stop on next year's trip to WV.

I ended up doing 344 miles that day on my old S40. The only bad part was on the way home we ran into a thunderstorm with pea-sized hail. :eek

That was to be a destination with a group few weeks ago but it was raining bad. Ended up on other roads for some (s)miles.

I was heading into the city to one of the local motorcycle shops and ran into some slow traffic due to road maintenance. Lots of routes through the city so I got off that road and headed east around the construction. The next turn to get back on track was similarly slowed up due to others with the same idea so I continued on and found the Saturday traffic equally cramped up on the south bound roads. As I was a very nice day I decided to take the circle route around and come in from the east side and backtrack to the store.

Well, it was a very nice day so I decided to continue on to the next alternate route, then the next, then...well you get the picture.

After an hour I decided I was close enough to go drop in on some friends in another city so I just kept going. Then bypassed that city too. I eventually ended up at a border crossing into the US. Traffic was really backed up there too but rather than turn around I took my chances and waited in line. When I got to the gate I explained to the girl asking questions what had happened and that I was just out for a joy ride and got carried away. She seemed genuinely pleased and gave me a big smile. Anyway, I told her all I wanted to do was get across the border into the small town and get a real Coors. She laughed and let me through.

So I hit the closest bar, had a beer, threw a six-pack in the saddlebags and headed home.

Crossing the border coming back into Canada the border guard asked me my nationality then how long I had been out of the country. "Half an hour" didn't seem to sit right so I had to explain again. He laughed and didn't charge me any taxes on the beer.

On the way back I did stop at the friends house for a bit. For a laugh they called my wife who thought I was only going to be an hour or so and let her know where I was.

Round trip was just over 400 miles. For a beer.

I've done similar things a few times and that wasn't the longest. In those days when I was working full time I could only ride on weekends so when I got out I was usually gone for the day. 99% of the time I head out I don't know where I'm going so I don't know how long I'll be. When the wife asks, I always tell her "I went for gas."

Went back and checked my notes on this. Actual mileage was 597 for me and a total of over 7,700 for all 14 riders on the run. It was a helluva day!

We do a chicken run here to Sweetwater, Texas, Allen's Home Style Cooking. It's about a 280 mile round trip ride for me. This place has been around I think since the 50's. Here's a YouTube clip on the place.
Oh my. That looks like it'd be worth the 4-ish hours it'd take me to ride there :)

I've been through Sweetwater a time or two. Love the town name on that huge windmill blade.

I think I would ride a few hours one way for some great fried chicken. ?

60 miles one-way for a couple potatoes. A mile-and-a-half from home at the intersection in town . . . could have gone less than 0.10 of a mile to the right to the local store. Thought for a few seconds; should I go right or should I go left . . . it was all up to me to decide. I went left. A few hours later . . . the wifeunit says where in the hell were you? I said; you sent me to the store . . . you didn't say which one!

3600 miles on a Suzuki GS 550L, and less than 200 bucks cash, for nookie. Thats as trivial as it can get.
