The ABS pulse on My XCT is a 1980's flashback. It is slow and thumping, but it works well. I am glad I activated it on purpose and wasn't surprised by it. The pulse is enough to grab your attention if you aren't expecting it, and in an urgent situation isn't the time to find that out. I also don't like my brake pedal turning to mush, no, not a real fan of ABS either, but it is here to stay and is useful.
Contrary to popular belief ABS aren't designed to "stop you faster". In some cases it will increase braking distance. Dry pavement is one of them.
ABS are designed to keep you in control. Preventing skids is what they do, and the Vic system, although antique feeling, works well, just don't panic and stomp down hard because some systems can be overridden and result in skidding. (That could also be an outdated statement, but I've seen plenty of solid tire skids just before the wreck) I don't know if this is one of them and don't want to try it out.
Some people go their whole life wondering if they made a difference, Marines don't have that problem.~ Ronald Reagan
