Default Goldwing to Cross Country?

Anybody go from a Goldwing (1800cc) to a Cross Country? Yes, I'm thinking about it. Does the radio/CB/intercom work as well together as on the wing? Is the service interval really 2500 mi? What warranty does the CC come with? Other than a VTX1800, what bikes should I compare as I consider returning to a V-twin? I'm not really getting straight answers from the dealer, or a decent price for that matter.

Dont like your wing? They are a great machine without the rumble. I ride one but am looking at buying a CC or CR next summer. I love the power of the wing but every time I ride the wifes Vegas, I want that rumble even more.

I went from five years on a Wing to a Cross Roads. The Wing was fine. Smooth. All the comforts. Liked the styling of the CR. I'm 6'-4" and the CR fit great. I like the handling better on the CR. Especially at slow speeds. Even practicing, I was never really comforatble at slow speeds on the Wing.

Hi Wingman, thanks for the reply. I do like the wing and it is a fine ride. Had it for six years. It is very strong, comfortable and the electronics are second to none. I'm just looking for a change. I had a chance to demo the Cross Country last weekend and I liked the seating position better, the foot position better and still plenty of power with minimal vibration. I would not consider it without the counter balancer. I would have bought a VTX1800 with its dual pin crank but it's very top heavy and I sipmply like the cruise control and radio. You can still buy a new VTX1800T for less than $10k. It's sad that it comes down to electronics in a bike choice but that's the way it is. I'm on the forum to find out as much as I can about the XC before I buy. Great information and comments out there. Keep me posted on your future XC.

Not true about the every 2,500 miles service. I bought a 2011 Cross Country. After the initial 500 service it is every 5,000 miles thereafter. It is clearly stated in the Owner's manual. I sold my 2008 BMW R1200RT and glad I did. This Cross Country is the best bike I've ever owned and drove. It is comfortable and well thought out. I am having it repainted now into a White and Willow Green scheme and will post pictures soon. By the way, fellas, check out Santa Rosa Vee Twin, for they sell Cross Country handlebars that pull back 2." And, I also put into the bars the "BARSNAKE." It is a substance that cuts the vibration in the handlebars.

i came from a vtx13...i really tried the wing but could not get my head around the seating pos...i would have had to drop too much to get an X18 to what i wanted and to me the bike is top heavy..i decided that i am twin-rider and got the XC...and she is great...as far as handling there is no comparison to the vtx....the QR back-rest and LR is perfect too...so far..3.5K and the dealer also told me the 2.5K interval...... the honda was 3k...and this seems short...so i'm gonna check the manual

Will the Santa Rosa bars work with stock cables/brake line?

Default SRVT Handlebars

Jokerman, cables yes. Brake cable yes, and no. It was a tight line so I went ahead and ordered a new brake cable. I could have re-routed with no problem, but it was going to pinch eventually. The new braided brake cable did the trick just fine.

Yes I upgraded from a goldwing. I say upgraded as my goldwing was a 1983 interstate. I tried my brothers 2003 Goldwing and also test drove a Cross Country while at the Laughlin River Run earlier this year and I ended up getting the Cross Country and am not sorry. I love my bike.
