Default Leaving Ohio for Florida in the morning!

Riding my bike to Florida to attend a wedding. So far I've changed the oil, Had a new rear tire put on and had the cables checked/adjusted, and bought a cable repair kit just in case.

Any other suggestions for last minute preparedness? Checked the weather for the ride down and it looks great. Debating on whether or not to pack the rain gear. Also anybody know where to buy some moonshine that's not too far from I75?

Always pack rain gear, long sleeve shirt and extra underwear/socks.

Even when not calling for rain you can find some, I've been in rain all day at a predicted 10% chance.

For me when packing light, I pack 2 days clothes and plan to wash if needed, keeping an extra pair of unders and socks. The extra shirt under the rain gear I can skip a jacket for warmth.

It is always a good idea to have a roadside service/tow plan too.

Luckily for me I have a suitcase of clothes in my sisters car already down there, as for the rain gear I guess it wouldn't hurt to find a place for it. My Dad always says if you pack the rain gear you wont need it but once you don't... you will wish you did. I just hate the extra baggage!

Frogg Toggs take up precious little space and work great. Brightly colored ones help with visual conspicuity when you need it. Have fun and post pics!

It is rainy season in Florida right now. Sure it is warm and you will dry off easy enough, but for a long haul I always take my rain gear. It also doubles as a light jacket if you are getting on the road early in the mountains, that would be mountains north of Florida!!

Enjoy your trip..

Made it to Georgia for the night. Was nice Ridin, only got run off the road once by some Tennessee driver that was in to big a hurry to look twice, but I've had closer calls. Had a blast goin through Kentucky, hooked up with a coupla different cars that were cranking as hard as I was. Didn't see too many troopers, was a great overall ride. Got a coupla pics I'll put up when I get around to it....oh and I got some Moonshine at a liquor store in Carysville Tn.!!

If you stopped in Carrysville. there is a cheap no-tell motel, N/E corner of the interchange, a stone throw from Shonies. I stop there all the time when I lived in Fla on a ride to Cleveland to see my son. Usuallu no more than 29 or so bucks for the night. From the Sarasota area it is roughly 875 miles into the ride. Best Host or something like that. Stop at a rest area in Tenn and pick up the motel guide for the coupon.

Enjoy your ride.
