Talking Very happy momma

Ever since I got my XC in November 2011, my wife J has wanted a bike with more of the comforts that the XC offered. She was not in a hurry and knew we couldn't drop a big chunk for a new loaded bagger at the time. As is her style she was patient and happily road her VStar 950. But I knew she was both ready for a bigger bike and definitely deserving of a little luxury. Over the months we investigated several models and the short list was the Kaw Vaquero, HD Streetglide and the Vic XC. The killer for the Kaw was the bags were side opening so really it was between the Vic and the HD. The SG actually fit her well (she is a bit Vertically Challenged at only 5'4" ) We have more than a few friends that are HD riders and she kept bringing up the reliability of the HD's in general.

Then one day in early Spring we went into our favorite Dealership for the first of Season Polar Bear ride. They recently picked up the Victory line and they had a few of the 2013 XC's on the floor. When we walked in her jaw hit the floor. She saw the Sunset Red Blacked out XC. I must say I was pretty impressed myself. I will admit that I Love Chrome, but Vic did an outstanding job on this Black Out bike. Sadly there was no way we could swing the payments on a new XC

Well we did the Polar Bear ride and froze our Arses off and before heading home she went back in to get a last look at this slick blacked out bike. Over the next several weeks she kept talking about how cool that bike was and "that" is the bike she wanted. She also knew it would be a year or so before we could begin to afford it for her. The staff at this dealer are all outstanding and actually take the time to get to know you. So every time we go in they accomadate her drooling and let her sit on "her" bike knowing that we were not able to purchase anytime soon.

Well yesterday I went in to pick up my new Vic Cool Air Tour pad for my seat that I had ordered during their Fathers Day ride. On my way out (it was within 10 minutes of closing time) the sales manager yelled over to me to hold up. He said they had taken in a used XC the day before. A 2013. Really I said, he says yeah it is the Red Blacked out one and asked if I wanted to see it. I was like what the hell and we go back into the service department to check it out. When I saw it I about chit my pants. We had ridden with this guy the previous Saturday at the Fathers Day ride. I actually chatted the guy up for about 15 minutes about everything he had done to his bike, even J had talked about his bike the rest of the weekend. He had bought it back in November and after pricing everything out he had done I guessed he had put about $4k in upgrades to it. I was almost afraid to ask what they might list if for, when he told me a starting number I did chit my pants, it was a number I could deal with.

I called the wife as soon as I got in the parking lot and she said if we can make the deal work "Go for it". to end the long story we made the deal work.

So here is the wifes new scoot: 2013 Sunset Red XC with Madstad brackets, Cee Dragon Windshield, Ness Big Honker Exhaust, WitchDoctor Exhaust Tips, Power Commander, Backrest, luggage rack, Hard Lowers, Fairing Lowers, IPOD connection and PIAA Driving lights. Oh yea and only 2100 miles on the clock.

Between this and the 8yr old Golden Retriever rescue we brought home this week, I should have enough brownie points to carry me for a good while.

Beautiful bike! Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

He sure put a lot of accessories on in a short time just to unload it. Did you ask what the guy had traded for?

Another question is, what do you think of the cool pad? I've seen them on Vic's site and wondered if they're worth the $.

Thanks for the replies, yes she is extremely happy. The Dealership knows this guy well, and they were not surprised he had traded it off. Apparently he does it all the time, buys a new bike, adds lots of goodies and within a few months trades it off for a different ride and starts all over again. He traded it for a new FJR Sport Tourer, said he wanted something more sporty

I will need to change a few things on it to make it a better experience for her due to her height. Before we left the Dealership's parking lot I moved the foot controls back. Once home I swapped windshields between hers and mine and will start looking for a stock blade windshield to put on it for her. I am also starting to look into lowering options, I did let the air out of the shock which helped more than expected.

As for the cool pad, I love it. It is not quite "Air Conditioning" for your butt but it does make a very noticeable difference in keeping your butt cool. It also adds a touch more cushion which is always good. Not cheap for what it is, I think they list for $99 but my dealership gave me a deal during their fathers day ride and I got it for about $10 less than the cheapest I found it on Ebay, besides I like keeping my money local if possible.

Looks awesome Dawg! Dontcha love gettin all the goodies pre-loaded? Saves a lot of time screwing around in the garage I'd think.

Did you happen to ask what the dude traded it in on?

Yes, I don't mind the garage time but I do mind the initial costs, due to the guy trading it in, we got all those goodies for pennies on the dollar. They sold me this bike for sub $16K plus tax so I was extremely happy. She is lucky those pipes are black or I might have stayed up late last night swapping them to my bike LMAO.
