Here is our history lesson. My wife is 5-2. She bought a cross roads. She had a Vegas, but the 21 inch front wheel was too road sensitive for her. Being vertically challenged as you mentioned your other half is, she needed some adjustments to get the feet comfortably on the ground. The dealer installed some victory lowering link(s) and lowered the bike 2-3 inches....made it ride like a rock IMO. I had the same bike, same year and no suspension mods. Well she wasn't having fun turning it, so the dealer then added pull back bars and modified the seat to,push her forward 2 inches..... They screwed up the ergonomics and dynamics of the bike,up,so,bad, it eroded her confidence and she sold the thing......and she loved it......now she rides something from the dark, side and is in heaven. Moral of the story is be very careful when you start messing with the suspension of a motorcycle. Yah there were other factors, but scraping the pipes every time she left the driveway and losing some of that beloved 4.7 inches of travel may not be the best answer. Yah I know lotsa people do it, but............ Anyway. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
