Question Driver Backrest Bolts

Hey guys, I did a search and could not find what I was looking for. Just ordered and received the Grasshopper Backrest for my XCT. However it did not come with the 2 bolts needed to install the mounting base for the quick release backrest. I do not have them on the bike either, I see the holes but no bolts present at all. Can anyone tell me the size so I can go out and get what I need at the Hardware store? If had to guess would say they are either M8 or M6 but not sure. Any help would be appreciated and save me some time consuming guesswork.

Thanks...

Don't know if this will help, but a couple of times when I needed bolt sizes I went to one of the parts places online and went to their OEM parts look up diagrams. Not being that familiar with the XCT or the backrest you mention I don't know if the bolt holes you are looking at are on the bike or some aftermarket part. If there is an OEM part that can fit in these holes it will tell you the bolt size, or at least the bolt part number that you can look up and get the size.

Here is the one at Honda Toledo East.

[edit]Ok the link kicks you back to the main page, but if you look under Parts > OEM Parts finder you can get there.

Thanks, I tried that prior to posting but I could not find the part that looked like the mounting point. Checked the seat diagram as well as the rear fender diagram and was not 100% sure. The bolt size they did list for what appeared to maybe be it was an M8 though.

That is what I planned to do if no one knew the answer lol. 2 each of the suspected sizes and be done with it. Even though I am pretty sure it is not nearly that small was going to do M4 along with the M6 and M8 just to be sure. I will post the size it winds up being just for future reference for anyone else doing a search on it.

Default Update

Bolt size was as originally suspected.

M8 x 1.25 pitch

Hope this helps anyone looking for this info in the future.

Thanks PaXCTlover. I just got mine in the mail, and it didn't have the bolts either.

Don't they use the same bolts that held the passenger grab strap to the frame? Every cross bike comes with that strap.

You are probably right. My bike was a demo bike when I bought it, and it didn't have the strap or bolts on it. Maybe someone needed it more than I did before I got it.

Mine was a Demo also and there was not a grab strap on my bike either. Would have been nice if they left the bolts at least but guess they needed it or whoever had it on Demo did not want that strap on there at all.
