Default Hawg Wired Six Pack Set Up

Does anyone have the Hawg Wired Six Pack Direct Connect installed? If so, is there any way you post a sound demo video? I am thinking of going this router over the stock setup on my 2013 nuclear sunset. Also I was looking for some aftermarket speaker pods for the crash bars but couldn't seem to locate any except for Harleys.

Yes. Pretty sure I was the first kit put together after the R&D.

As for sound file...I suppose, but the phone or camera isn't going to showcase the quality.

The other problem is that my settings WHILE RIDING are far from "quality". When you're going 60mph down the road, you don't want the bass waffling the cones....so you gotta ease back on the bass AND the treble gains on the head unit. Most guys adjust the amp with the gains waaaaaay too high, so any amplification is going to make it sound worse at speed. My amp level were adjusted with the head unit bass and treble at around -2.

So...short version, I can post a file (what type of music do you like?), but it's not going to be an indication of what you'll hear on the bike. I'll make it sound good.....

Buy your system based upon your budget and quality products. I wasn't familiar with Hawg Wired, but any company that is going to support a 2ohm stable motorcycle amp is using high end electronics. ;o)

Another item to consider is that you really won't hear much difference b/w the 6.5" and the 5 1/4" as you're removing the enclosure for the 6.5". i.e. the 6.5 will be run "Free air". I bought the six pack for the bigger amp (might add more speakers later....not certain yet) and the bigger speaker was just along for the ride.

If your budget allows for it....great system! Perhaps a tad higher than comparable products, but worth it (IMO).


Do you have the round or forged highway bars?

Thanks for the reply Diesel. I like rock, some rap and dubstep mostly but listen to all types of music. Price is really no object to me when it comes to quality sound. I am an AV nut. I have the round crash bars.

However...quite a few caveots. I'm not an AV nut, but I am a pro bass player. LOVE my low end.....love it so much that I'm aware no system (realistically) is going to give me the bass I want, esp when riding. So, my riding tunes (unfortunately) are mostly non-bass heavy stuff.

The camera is distorting the high end...that's not the system. There is a buzz in the windshield which I haven't fixed yet...it's kinda annoying in the vid. No clue why it's not focusing very well.

You'll see how I cycle through the settings..pretty self explanatory. Never noticed this until watching the video...but the drivers are putting out some decent bass to the FRONT of the fairing (the part of vid when it's showing the chroming work on the fork). Weird, but expected.

no problem...

I'd go so far to say it's probably the best "drop in" system available for the XC as the kit comes with everything you need (wires, mounting plate, speaker adapter, etc. It's a very tight fit. As mentioned, you're removing the 5 1/4 enclosures....which might actually be a better set-up for riding. Perhaps someone can chime in on the HW 5 1/4 system.

The only way to improve upon this.....is to go with separates (woof/tweats), do some modifications to the fairing and add additional speakers. However, no matter where you put the speakers (lowers, bags, passenger trunck), it's not going to make a difference for "you" when riding above 40mph.

I have forged bars and might consider some custom fab work along with the JTD lowers this winter. They come stock to accept 4x6, but I bet you could fit some 6.5" with a bit of custom work......

Those lowers from JTD look nice. I just talked to John and he is working on some that fit the round bars like mine and hopes to have them completed this fall/winter. He is a really nice guy. I think I will be definitely adding those when he has them ready. I don't want to cut into bags to add another set of speakers.

I'll probably pony up for the forged 4x6 and see how they work. If they can run with the 6.5", I'll keep them. If not....I'll just chop those apart.

Give me a few month and I'll report back.

Diesel, I couldn't agree with you more. At speed you just wont hear what you want no matter how good the system. I went with 6.5 Polk mm series and like the speakers better with the fairing off. (free air). I had to apply high density foam on the inside of the outer fairing and some parts of the inner fairing to get better sound out of these (less tinny}. Cant crank bass above +3. When sitting still they rock hard with my RF300x4. Thinking about sending the bag lids to sidecar cycles for their mod to mount speakers but $500 plus is a over budget right now.

HD has a great set up for their lowers and if you ride a RG there are even more options to put up to 8 spkrs in your face not to mention all the spkrs you can stuff into the bags and trunk.

Would love to see someone make a custom set up for our lowers (forged bars) that look factory with a nice set of 6.5's in them.

I run my 6.5s" enclosed, not "free air", and they sound great. I'm using the adapters from Sidecar Cycles and speaker cones. With my amp I get very good (not great) sound above 70 MPH, if I'm running my tall shield. But even with my shorty shield, I can easily hear decent sound at level 8 and above (10 is usually too loud, actually).
