Two CC Questions From A New Owner
Greetings, all! After owning several HDs and finally getting tired of the arrogance and unbridled incompetence of the dealers, the service departments and the HD home office, a riding buddy of mine finally wised-up and took delivery of his new CC. As I said he would, he loves it. He mentioned two issues, though, and asked if I might help him sort them out. The first is the fact that he seems to be having trouble with missed shifts while using the new-style heel-toe shifter. Seems that, for the sake of style, Victory cut the size of the rear pedal pad to about half of its earlier size, and his big, floppy feet apparently miss the rather miniscule pad on the up-shifts. He questions whether or not the older-style heel-toe lever (with its larger pads) will fit on the new bike. Anyone make this mod? The second is a bit more troublesome to me. While riding the bike, and especially at, say, a stoplight, he finds the smell of fuel almost overwhelming. I rode his bike, and I have to agree. Unfortunately, his calls to the dealer are answered with a blow-off response like "They all do that" or "The tank vents out through the gas cap, so get used to it." My understanding of FI systems and environmental issues makes me think that this is BS, and that, because the system is essentially closed, there should be No fuel smell, as the vapors are routed back into the intake plenum. So, what's the correct answer from members who may have experienced this, or who have some technical expertise in this area? Thanks for your help.
