Engine Noise and Normalcy
Sorry to revisit this topic but looking for some advice.
Bought a used 2010 XC with 1700 miles; paid for it before riding so I was committed to accept from the dealer.
Engine is of course very noisy, like a helicopter whirl, in all gears on decel, and in most gears on accel. Only 5th gear is relatively quiet, though most gears have a slight sweet spot around 2500 RPM. I understand that a geared primary will tend to be noisier but just how noisy is "Normal." This is my 3rd cruiser (others were metrics) so I may be spoiled when it comes to engine noises. Anyway, here is my quandry: The bike will be out of warranty in a few months and the closest dealer is roughly 2 hours away. The dealer I bought it from says the noise is the "nature of the beast" but I'm of course suspicious of why someone would trade a bike in so early unless they suspected a problem or just couldn't stand the "helicopter whirl" anymore. Would it be prudent to have a Victory dealer (other than the one I bought it from) take the bike for a ride? I guess while I'm there I might get a chance to ride another 2010 for comparison. Ugh! BTW, great forum.
