Looking to add XM sat radio to my holiday wish list. Just wondering how the Vic setup works..i know that its plug and play. Expensive monthly charges?
Depends on what you want. Its about $15 a month unless you want the premium channels.....but
I dont like to listen to talk radio.....I want music. So for $9 a month you can just get the music channels. Thats about as cheap as your going to get it unless you talk them into a "special" deal.
I read about this online so I tried it.
I recently called and just asked to have my service disconnected....stating it was just to expensive and I didnt see spending the money. Right off the bat they offered to give me 5 months of service for $25. That wasnt the reduced music only channel listing.....that was the regular listing and the internet radio option (which I do use alot at work). Basically $18 a month worth of service for $5 a month....or $25.
When my 5 months of cheap service is up I will try that again or just drop to the music only channels $8 and add the internet radio $3.
I have satellite radio mounts in my garage, house, both cars and on my XC. I use the same radio so I get full use out of it with only 1 radio. If you were to have a radio in your car and the Vic factory XM your going to pay an extra $10 a month for a second receiver. I dont see the point in multiple receivers, Im fine moving mine around.
On my XC I dont use the Vic factory radio. I already have power and audio plug in the right saddle bag so I just tossed a radio mount in there and when I get on my bike I open the bag, pop my radio in the mount and take off.
I cant change the channel unless I stop (however I listen religiously to two channels anyways.....Im not a channel surfer)
cheaper then Vic factory option
cheaper per month IF your using multiple cars (no need for extra monthly service)
leaves the bars clean (vs mounting the radio on the handlebars, there are aftermarket options for that)
no worries about weather affecting the radio (I used a plastic bag on my Vision for that)
