Default Mounting lights on crash bars - did you do it?

I'm considering mounting some LED bullets on my crash bars for more visibility. For those that have done it, how did you run the wiring? I tried to fish some wire alongside the crash bar up into the lower fairing, but kept hitting an obstacle.

Jon:
I took off the battery cover (the black grille piece) and wired it that way. My lights are mounted on the crash bars on the outside of the lowers. It was tough, but I finally got it in there. It's not real pretty, but it works.

Took the fairings off the bars...ran the wiring along top of bars, then re-installed fairings. Is mostly hidden. Added a disconnects just above the louvers and the mounts for the lights for ease of maint if I ever have to check it/remove fairings.

How hard is it to remove just the black inner parts of the fairings? Would that give me access to the crash bars?

You're talking about the fairing lowers, the "pods," the things with the little cubbies and doors on the crashbars of an XCT, right? If so, not hard at all, done it several times, just a few minutes: seven bolts and an arrow/grommet thingy each side.

I've just scanned in the relevant pages from the shop manual, and put them up as pages on my web site:

http://www.billanddot.com/XCT-Lower-...-Page-3-22.pdf
http://www.billanddot.com/XCT-Lower-...-Page-3-23.pdf

Notes:

1) If you completely remove the lowers, pay attention to the direction of the three clamps per side, i.e., the flat parts of the clamps do not all point the same way -- some are over the bar, some are under.

2) Whether or not you completely remove the lowers, you might want to adjust the clamp positions. See this thread: https://www.victoryforums.com/showpost.php?p=84697

Cheers,

Bill P.
