Default Cross Country Test Ride

I tested a 11 XC yesterday and came away with several impressions that I want to share with everybody.

Alittle background on myself. I have owned several Victory Motorcycles in the past. One being a 00 Sport Cruiser and the other a 06 Jackpot. So I am very familiar with Victory Motorcycles.

I now own for the past 2 years a 03 Fatboy.

I arrived at the dealership and I see this beautiful black XC ready for me to take her out on a spin.

I will list my riding experience with the XC in several catagories:

Power: I felt it lacked alittle torque off the line but definitely had passing power. Reaching 70 to 80 was a snap!

Handling: Incredible! I had an 08 Streetglide several years ago and this thing blows it out the water. I loved it.

Storage: Very nice accomadations and fit and finish.

Styling: The more I looked at it the more I liked it. I loved how the front fender wrapped around the front tire.

Logistics: I did not have any problems with any of the controls. They were all in the right spots but I will definitely would change the gear shifter to a heel and toe type. The shifting has definitely improved from my 06 Jackpot. A loud clunk is all I heard in 2nd gear but everything was smooth after that.

Exhaust Note: Consumer really doesnt have too many options in this catagory. Looking for some pipes that would give a gd throatie sound but would definitely not drown out the radio.

After coming back from the test ride I was impressed. I can not compare an 03 fatboy to a 11 XC but I will tell you that if the trade in offer on my bike is fair on Monday..........I think that 11 XC might be in my garage. I'm just saying...........

I will keep u guys informed on what happens on Monday.

This forum is definitely a wealth of Info.

Good observations. As far as exhaust go get you a set of D&Ds and put on that bad boy. Not to loud but sound great. I love mine. Good luck on your trade and hope it works out for ya. The more you ride it the more you love it. Right the oppisite of most motorcycles. I got mine the first of April and already have 6000 miles on it. My favorite bike to date and I've had a plenty trust me. Good Luck!

I just picked up a 2011 XC myself this weekend. "Used" with 550 miles on it and a bunch of accessories already installed. One of them being the Ness Big Honkers exhaust with Gatlin tips (Which look awesome). They sound great, nice and throaty, but not too overpowering at cruising speed. The radio is still audible, though at around 80 the wind noise more then the exhaust cuts down on that. Though maybe I just need a taller windscreen.

If you do decide you want the XC I would advise waiting a little. The 2012 are coming out in a matter of weeks. That may mean great discounts and rebates on the 2010 and 2011's!!

Well.....i got up late and couldnt make it to the dealership this morning.

So.....I decided to take Diamondrmp's advise and wait to see what kind of discounts Victory will be offering on the 11's when the 12's come out.

I'm also thinking about selling my bike outright and see what kind of interest i get from there. This will definitely save me some money.

I would have to say though that out of all the colors i like white the best on the XC. The bike looks good.

Anyway I will keep u guys posted.

Tks for the replies.

Hey ricoumc, thanks for the update on a test ride. I have a Heritage, and thinking about making the move to a XC. Congrads Levocmk1 on your purchase.
What really makes me hesitate to purchasing a XC (other than a fair trade) is the simple fact that 3 out of 5 dealers within 125 miles of me are no longer in Business. What the heck am I going to do about service?
But I thank you for all the Info, I feel the XC fits me and is so simular to the Yamaha Royal Star Venture that I owned and loved, only lower seat and not as top heavy. Later-

"Sometimes, it is fun to let them slowly pass by, then Smile, as they wipe the drewl off their face!"

+1

I love my 2011, but all the upgrades/addons for maybe $3k are impressive. The top box alone is $1800 aftermarket (assuming you would like to have one) and the ABS is worth $3k to me. Not counting all the other stuff (hard lowers (1k), climate control. heated grips , heated seat, HID lights.....). If I were buying a 2011' I would want at least $5k off (I got $3k off mine a year ago). Sure screws resale though Thank god it's a great bike

Keep us posted and good luck!!
