Default Poll: What is the shortcut for the Cross Bikes?

What is the shortcut for the Cross Country and Cross Roads?

Ever since the new XCT and XR C LE was published this week; I see many people referring to them as CC or CR.

For those who may not know; the CC designation has already been taken by the Classic Cruiser.

So, as to avoid confusion, what do you think the designations should be?

XC, XCT, XR, XR C LE

CC, CCT, CR, CR Classic LE

XC, XCT, XR, and XRL. "XR C LE" has too many letters "XRL" is shorter and still makes it obvious that it's the special model.

Personally I think going with the "X" is the best way since the CC is alreay taken.

I also think that the X would be more of a progressive way of thinking and marketing especially since the younger generation has the X Games.

Many times good marketing is association.

Leave it to you to slice right through to the heart of the confusion.

I guess it doesn't matter what we, the customers, want to call it when Vic uses another vernacular.

Which is...which of your choices above?

Personally, I think that many new to Polaris will not be aware of the history of the bikes nor will they care about that specific history. Many newly-initiated will likely call them CCTs because that makes sense "to them" as they are un-aware and don't REALLY care what others called other bikes previously.

It's kinda like the fewer in number (older) generation insisting that the larger volume younger generation stop all this "modern" stuff and do it "their way" because it is the RIGHT way. Bottom line is that all generations rebel against authoritarian rule. If there are more young 'uns wanting to call it a CC, guess what...us old farts will have to 'give up the ghost' and eventually capitulate (Classic Cruiser be damned...LOL).

I also think that this "pole" is already set up with a pre-determined bias since your offered CC in the pole but also placed the "understanding" that CC was not a valid option would lead most into selecting one of the other two options with one of those being far more 'reasonable' than the other. Therefore, this results of this pole was pre-determined from the beginning (IMHO of course).

Howdy NB. Kinda curious how you came to some conclusions.

For instance; the pre-determined consensus.

One of the things I like about Victory is we are making new history...just like us "old farts" did a few decades ago before Harley's became mainstream.

Here's the deal my friend. Those of us who are plowing new ground, like yourself, with this exciting new and amazing motorcycle right now are of the same ilk as those who did the same thing a century ago with the HD, Indian, and all the rest.

It isn't a contest. It's about helping a new and fantastic motorcycle continue to grow into the mainstream.

That's the way I look at it anyway. You might see it much different. I dunno.

Oh, and you're 100% right about my bias. I am trying to sway the vernacular toward using the established shortcut of XC, XR, etc.....

It kinda bugs me that we don't have a common way of referring to the various models. It feels cheap to me. That's why I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to get on the same page and agree on a way to call each model rather than everyone calling them something different. That's mighty confusing to some folks, even me, and an injustice to the make and model in my very humble opinion...

I value your opinion so I look forward to your future input...

You need a dictionary to read this thread! Or YNAD2RTT...

There does seem to be quite a few people that get corrected when they input CC or CR. And judging by their profiles they may all be part of the younger crowd.

I guess I fit the profile and am officially an "old fart" but I'm not so sure I want to capitulate.

I think the question of "what's the difference between a biker and a motorcyclist" may have been solved. The answer could be "vocabulary".

My point was that it will be the market that will determine what the abbreviation will be rather than anything we Victory owners attempt to enforce. As you noted, most of us on these forums have defaulted to the XR/XC/XCT "standards" but if momma vic starts using CCT in it's marketing material, we will likely be forced to capitulate to that driving force.

Now, if you could get the ear of someone @ Victory and get them to put XR/XC/XCT into writing in their marketing literature, you would help your initiative.
