Default XC Lower Wind Deflectors - Serious Cracking

Just got back from a 900+ mile trip. Noticed numerous cracks in the Victory Lowers ranging from 1/2 to 1 inch in length. I've had the bike for 4 months. Just a matter of time before they crack all the way through and become useless. In the meantime, the cracks look like hell. Suspect it may be caused by over tightening the bolts when installed by the dealer. I plan to call the dealer tomorrow to see if they will do anything for me. Seems to me at $300, they should have a longer useable life.

For those of you with the Vic wind deflectors, I'd suggest you make sure you don't overtighten the mounting bolts!

The dealer should take care of this. Sounds like over-tightening to me and I haven't heard of this problem before. I had a similar issue when the dealer I bought mine from installed a flip windshield, star cracked around the screw holes from overtighten. I thinksome of the trouble dealers maybe get into is the shops get busy so the salesmen 'help' by installing what they think are simple to install accessory's but don't realize that simple still requires technique.

Just called the dealer. He said he would take care of it under warranty. He'll ship the replacements when they come in (dealer is located an hour away), I'll then ship him the old/defective parts to verify claim.

Pretty stand up guy to handle over the phone with no hassles.

Cabo, I assume you are talking about the fork mounted lowers? If the issue persists, Cee Baileys sells dark tinted replacement "plastic" for $50 or so. On my black XC they looked really nice.

Glad your dealer is cooperating

Yes, it is the fork mounted lowers. I was prepared to go with the Cee Baileys you mention if I couldn't get this resolved. I have a black XC as well, and thought this set up would look sharp. I'll keep that as my "plan B" if the Vic replacements don't hold up.

Just walked out and looked at my lowers, and the left hand one has cracks coming from the top hole.

Just looked at mine and found both are cracking. One upper and one lower.
