How many different STYLE and SIZE windshields does Victory make for their Cross Country TOURS!
I have researched this till I'm blue in the face and get conflicting or confusing information.
I have the Cross Country Tour TALL windshield (I think it is 18" from the bottom of the groove).
If someone knows definitively and can provide catalog numbers, I would be GREATLY appreciative.
Also...as to whether and what windshields need the extra bracket (3 holes each side) and which don't.
I believe that for the Tour, the only Vic windshield is that extra-tall one, the one with the brackets. And I believe the reverse is also true: the only Vic windshield that uses those brackets is that extra-tall Tour model.
If you go to http://www.purepolaris.com/en-us/Vic...Page=-1&sort=0
and then choose "Show All," you'll see one windshield listed as an accessory for the 2012 Tour, but it's listed as "BLADE WINDSCREEN (CROSS COUNTRY)" and it doesn't use the brackets. So, it's not really an XCT accessory they're listing, but rather an XC one.
When I ordered my 2012 Tour, I also ordered the KlockWerks Flare windshield. The bikes -- at least in 2012, and at least for the Tour (although I have no reason to believe that this has changed) -- are shipped from the factory without any windshield in place. The dealer agreed to put the Flare on for me without a labor charge, because he had to put some
windshield on anyway. When I picked up my bike to ride it home, I received a box with the never-used extra-tall windshield, those special Tour brackets, and a bunch of nuts and bolts... because those brackets are only for that tall windshield, and are not used for anything else.
Thus, if you take the brackets off (or, in the case of my dealer, never put them on), you can buy any old XC windshield, instead of that XCT windshield/bracket combo; the dash will then be identical to the XC dash. My KW Flare was just an XC Flare; I've since sold that, and also sold the original extra-tall XCT windshield and its brackets. And I've since put on the Madstad XC windshield/brackets combo.
Summary: in terms of windshields, the only thing that makes an XCT an XCT are those brackets and that tall windshield. If you remove that windshield and its special-purpose brackets, you have an XC (in terms of windshield choices).
If you have any info that contradicts what I just wrote, I'd be interested to learn what it is. And I'd be surprised.
