Default Is this vibration common?

My new 2012 (new to me anyway) CCT has a vibration rattle coming from the windscreen when the engine is turning 2500rpm in just about any gear. Has anyone else experienced this and is it more common than it should be? Thanks guys.

I have a 2013 Cross Country Tour. I get a rattle at particular rpm as well, but I think my rattle is coming front the headlight adjuster frame. I have been able to temporarily silence it by adjusting the headlight height slightly, but the rattle seems to return. I think I need to find rubber washers to limit the play.

As far as your windshield rattle... I just changed out my windshield, and noticed a plastic cover on the bracket that is loose on my bike. Your rattle may be coming from this part. I did not immediately see how to remove this cover. I was hoping to put something under this cover to minimize the movement.

Some on this forum will tell you our bikes like to run upwards of 3,000 rpm. This should solve your problem Good luck, rattles can be incredibly annoying.

Yep, that plastic cover that sits in between the windshield mounting brackets? Mine's loose too and wondering if there's a way to tighten it down. If there's not a way, something about a matchbook thickness should work underneath.

I get the same rattle from my Madstad shield in the 2500 RPM range. I am having my bike dyno tuned since I think it might be related to my engine not being properly tuned. I checked everything on the windscreen and found nothing loose.

Easy fix for mine. Took the w/s off and added a strip of black electrical tape to the mounts above, between, and below the screw holes. Re-installed the w/s and not a single rattle since. Just don't over do it and put stress on the w/s itself when it's tightened down.

I had the same issue. I took some plastic bathtub molding and cut two 1-inch strips and placed them between the windshield and the mount. No more rattle!
