Default Cruise Control Install - $800 Labor?

So, yes, I bought my 2014 Cross Country without cruise, didn't think I would really use it, well, that was a mistake.

I bought a BrakeAway cruise control, it won't fit with all the controls, so I'm thinking of having the OEM installed, but the dealer wants $800 to install it, something about having to split the frame to install a bracket, obviously not something I'm willing to take up.

The unit is $400, which is fine, but $800 just seems a bit high??

Anyone have experience with this, thoughts?

Also, other cruise control options..I'm all ears!

Thanks..

Dealer should be quoting service manual, and such a common aftermarket choice should be routine. I often wondered if the necessary throttle linkage components existed on non-cruise models, but judging from the price of the kit and the cost of labor, I'd assume "no." Labor time estimate would sure include the installation of the linkage cams, routing the cruise cables, and wiring and installing the unit. I see a lot of potential for time in that, myself. But ask what their hourly rate is anyway, and if it runs high, shop around. Hourly rate here is about $75-$85/hour, depending.

You can call me Billy. Or Luci. But don't call me Shirley.

Lloyd'z ATS, IAV, VFC-III. Vic "High Performance" air filter. Ness Big Honkers. Funsies.

For that kind of money I would pass. I barely use my cruise control unless Im on the highway but around here the crazy cagers drive so bad that you need to be responsive with your throttle and brakes anyway. Don't sweat it.

Did you get the 8ball XC? I believe that is the only model without cruise. If you are looking for throttle wrist relief then you could try a Throttle Boss or Cramp buster.

I believe it's the 8-ball, it has everything but cruise, I wanted the bike all blacked out.

You do not have the 8 ball. The 8 ball is black- even the paint.

I have the 8 Ball XC. I've made it into a XC tour. I've added everything except the cruise.

My question is does the wiring harness still have all the connectors on it just like a reg cross country..Because you can get on ebay there is a used cruise control..so my thing is I would take off the fairing and see if there are the connectors in there. No way you should pay the dealer for install on something so simple.

2011 Victory Cross Country
Color Rat Black (Powder Coated all other stuff)
HID from VictoryHID.com
Alien Skull Engine Badges/Avon Spike Grips and Shifter
Arlen Ness Flip Smoke Screen/EFX LED Accent Lights

That's the titanium suede metallic, which is blacked out sort of like the 8-ball... I just bought the same bike.

The main feature difference between our bike and the 8 ball being our bike has the full stereo system.
