Default trailer wiring

A couple of questions what are some of the do's and don'ts to wiring up a xtc for a trailer. Been trying the search function but apparently I'm not doing something right. Anyone have a link to a thread describing how to wire the bike for a trailer. Pics would be great.

So how many of you pull a trailer with your bike?

How does the XTC handle the extra weight ? On Venture I traded the only time I knew it was back there was at the pump.

I think you're talking about what most of call the Tour, i.e., the XCT (or CCT). In any case, here are a couple of links to get you started:

https://www.victoryforums.com/showthread.php?t=4292
https://www.victoryforums.com/showthread.php?t=12434

I got these by by-passing the forum's search function, and going straight to Google. That is, go to www.google.com (as I imagine you do for many other web searches), and then, in the the box that Google provides, enter this:

site:victoryforums.com trailer wiring

That tells Google to search -- as it usually does -- but limit its searching to URLs that have victoryforums.com in them. And after that, search for normal keywords, e.g., trailer, wiring, whatever you like.

I don't have a trailer or hitch for my '12 XCT, but I'm thinking about it. One of these years...

Cheers,

Bill P.

Buellx72 makes a harness that is a plug and play type deal that connects just behind the rear of the seat comes with wiring instructions as well. I had to add brake lights because I couldn't get the 4 pin plug to work so I went with a 5 pin plug.

I pull my America's Best trailer and another built to haul my mountain bikes. No issues pulls as well if not better than my RSV did.

I pulled my Leesur-Lite with the XCT last summer and we were loaded pretty heavy. It handled it OK but in the mountains I felt the bike was working pretty hard up the hills. Was much easier to pull the trailer with the XCT compared to the RSV, especially at low speed. We sold the trailer right after that trip.

I don't think there is any "plug and play" harness for the Vic ... but I could be wrong as there's a first time for everything LOL

Buellx72 has made some as mentioned by rickster haven't contacted him yet. But I was able to use the search and find his thread on the subject. Appears to be the same approach a member on the Venture site used and it was a fantastic way to wire up a trailer or other accessories. Kind of Ironic both wiring harnesses hook up under the seat in front of rear fender. SilverT like the way you have your trailer plug mounted I'm going to look at adding another plug on the trailer cord to make removing the trunk easy.

I thought of that when I was doing mine but decided that since I have no intention to ever remove the trunk, there was no need ... and if I ever did, then I'd just unscrew where I mounted it.
