Default My CC is leaking / Update!

I rode my 12 CC ON Sunday for a few hundred miles. When I got home I put my HD on the lift and parked the vic where the Hd had been. Later, when I went out to the garage I noticed a small oil stain under the bike in an odd place. It was rear of the motor and drivetrain. I took a quick look underneath suspecting maybe the oil filter being that far back on the bike. I didn't notice anything obvious at the time and assumed that I had to check my Harley to see if it came from it before I moved it. Well I took the Vic to work yesterday, put it away and didn't go out there til a few hours ago and noticed another new oil stain on the floor. Upon further investigation it appears that my rear shock is leaking oil. Has anyone else experienced this? the bike only has 16k miles on it. I do have the extended warranty, so hopefully they will replace it.
thanks,
LongRIder

I didn't have an issue with the rear shock on my 11 XC, but I do recall reading a thread from another XC owner here awhile back.

Yes, I went through this last summer and my bike only had 3k miles on it at the time. Luckily you noticed it and not almost wrecked your bike like I did because of the shock fluid going all over your back tire. I was lucky in that mine was under warranty and they replaced it with a new one because they are over $500 new. It also gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling when you see that the shock is made in Asia. I did not buy the extended warranty because I have never felt the need to and most say you don't need it with a Vic but if I had to do it again I would have gotten it.

The shock on my 2012 XC started leaking oil 1 month after the warranty expired. Had to buy used replacement from ebay as they were on backorder from MaVic!

That shows you how many they are replacing and there should be a safety recall on them. I fully suspect my replacement shock to start leaking during my ownership of the bike and when it does I will probably trade it in. My dealer has now replaced 3 of these this year including mine and he doesn't sale that many bikes a year.

SO I called my victory dealer today and asked about the shock. I explained that it was leaking. I asked if he would have one in stock and he said no. Anyway, I bought the extended warranty on my bike. The shock is indeed $500+, but will only cost me $50. And that just paid for the warranty. Anyone that is thinking on buying a new bike, and you put a lot of miles on, the warrantees usually pay off. The dealer is ordering the part and I should be able to get it to him next week to swap it out.
