Default Good price on 2014 XR 8 ball

I'm sure it varies, but generally, what should I expect from my negotiations with Vic dealers? Already been offered $1k off MSRP over the internet. I'm assuming that I can get that at least another $1k lower?

Too many variables.

How long will you wait?
How much time and energy will you donate to hunting?
How far will you travel?
How much of a horse trader are you?
What is the absolute top dollar you will pay?
Are you ready to jump?
Cash or credit?
New or used?
Leftover?

See what I mean Vern?

Answer those questions for yourself and then be true to those answers.
As a matter of baseline, in any automotive deal on new current model year product I start at MSRP minus 15% then add dealer prep. A bunch of factors can lower that number and I play them for all they are worth but for Pop that's as high as I go, and I don't do trades. Keep it or sell it outright but if your are shopping deals keep it simple. Get the price dialed in on the buy. The sell will take care of itself. If you insist on trading why are you looking for deals? You are already giving the seller a fine way to fudge the deal in his favor.

If you can wait a couple of months when the 2015 models come out you can get a better deal on the 2014's. I shopped a 5 hour radius, made lots of calls and found a few dealerships who wanted to work with me. Drove a couple of hours up the road and negotiated some more and got my XR for 25% below msrp not including taxes.
