Default Is the dockboss the only way to use droid?

Hey,
Is that dockboss in that sticky the only adapter available to use a droid phone to play music on our bikes?
From what Ive read, it will work for volume and charging, but cannot control tuning (skip, back, etc)....If that's true...is there any other available options?
I saw in the Victory accessories catalog the auxiliary audio cord, but looking at it, I cant figure it out....there is no I pod connector....Im confused.
Btw, Im in no way shape or form a techie....I get very confused by even the very basics of this stuff....sorry....but it is what it is. I can rebuild a tranny but cant hook up a radio....haha.

get the ipod adapter, then buy a nano off craigslist, just be careful when you get it. the one i bought was loaded with tranny porn pictures. $25 for an 8gb ipod that i can change tracks on, and there are other programs that will add music other than itunes.

if you plan to use your droid where do you plan to run it from ? bars? bag , lowers? you can get the 3.5 mm adapter also, its 45$ but i dont think you get any charging and i think you have to run the phone manually. i have an iphone and just got a iphone adapter. im not a techy guy either , very tech stupid !!

What is it you want to do with your phone? There are various options and most have limitations.

- The factory aux cable added to your saddlebag or lower will allow you to connect the phone's headphone jack to the stereo. You still have no control of phone's playback without stopping (and getting off the bike if it's in the saddlebag). And the phone can't charge.

- The bluetooth adapter will allow you some limited control (pause/un-pause, and maybe next track?) and you can keep the phone in your pocket. Again, no charging or finer control without stopping the bike. Likely you can't control anything for streaming audio sources.

- Using an actual iPod as suggested above and the factory iPhone cord will allow control of the playback and you can see the song on the display. But it isn't your phone and you can't use streaming services like Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play, etc.

The solution I went with is more flexible. Use the factory aux connector. Put it in the fairing without the long extension cable meant for the saddlebag. Buy a simple 3.5mm extension and run it to your bars. Add a RAM mount to the bars to hold your phone. Optionally, run a microUSB power cable up to the bars too (which I did). Now you have access to the phone to control things, the phone can charge, you can see what's playing, you don't have to get off the bike to control the playback, and you can also do anything else on the phone that you need to (preferably while stopped). If you want info on how I did this there is another thread around here with details.

Hey guys
yeah so all i really want to do is play the music thats already on my phone...like an mp3 player. I dont need to stream or any of that.
Just to be clear...i already have the ipod cord fed into the saddlebag. where is this connection in the lowers u all mention? Im not finding it...need to look harder.
Ill probly give the bluetooth method a shot as its cheap and I could put phone in my pocket. If I want to charge....ill just hook up the 12 volt in the saddlebag....i like that they added that knockout...so id like to use it.
Thnx guys for explaining it like im a 6 year old (actually 6 yr olds nowadays know alot about this stuff...haha)....u know what I mean.
Thnx

Well if you have an XC and not a XCT then the ipod connector is in the right side saddlebag. Get the bluetooth dongle.. you'll be all set for music from your driod.

you're looking for this type of thing:
