Default Warning to all!!!!

Mod folks, this is here to reach the most amount of people possible. I'm posting on each forum that I belong to cuz its that important.
If it truly needs moved go ahead but please read it first then decide.

The message is because I had a Heart Attack.

The Warning is because I had a Heart Attack.

About me: I'm 42 years old. Never sick before in my life other than normal colds. I'm 6'1" and weight 295 lbs. Now I used to lift weights in high school AND for a few years after. Yes, I have a belly 40" waist but I don't want you to think 295 lbs pure fat guy. I am in Law Enforcement, so I must run 1 1/2 miles for the physical portion of the testing along with 300 yd sprint. OK, my spelling here may not be the best but you'll get it. My cholesterol levels were Just above a normal level NOT TOO high and not WAY out of whack either. My Triglycerides were 300. 150 is normal. But doctor said many many people are walking around with 1000+ levels. They are "walking strokes" just waiting to happen he said. I don't really worry about money. Not rich but my job will always be there. I make enough just like the rest of us here to own a Victory. I do have some stress in life for sure. While I don't worry about having a job, it is actually somewhat stressful. My mother has cancer and has been in chemo treatment for 4+ years so there is some added stress. But I'm not saying I'm any different than the rest of you. Stress is a part of our lives. Just the facts.

What I'm trying to say is I'm not a perfect specimen but far far from the worst walking around.
I suffered a heart attack Tuesday morning. I was sent to a cardiology unit of a neighboring hospital. In short order I went into the "Cath" lab. The Dr. pulled out a Small and I mean small blood clot. FOLK LISTEN, "I" see that I that is in quotes. It was that small. Total, period. It caused me alot of "pressure" type chest pains. Not stabbing but pressure.
PLEASE again folks LISTEN....... Don't blow off the pain. Don't say it is something else. Thanks God, I, after 4 hours, went to the local ER. My EKG was normal, My blood work was "odd", according to the DR. BUT the DR. also said that I just "looked" bad. Ashen color he said. SO with EKG good.... Blood Work bad.... And looking bad. Dr said 2 out of 3 means you go to the cardiologist.
AGAIN, Thank God.
OK, I'm home now with some nice words from the Cardiologist and some NOT so nice words. He claims to have seen "my type" all the time. At 42 years old, I will either think I'm bullet proof now and never listen OR I will commit to a lifestyle change. With a beautiful wife and 2 great kids ages 13 and 7, I WILL CHOOSE THE CHANGE!!!!

YEP, I'm over weight. BUT actually the Dr told me that he was very surprised to see someone with my blood work being relatively good, a relatively heathy body, not much for drinking, NO smoking, No family history of heart disease, No diabetes ETC ETC ETC to be in this shape.
I'm not going to sugarcoat this FOLKS Please, If you even think you might need to change, You probably do.
IF YOU NEED TO CHANGE PLEASE MAKE THE LIFE CHANGING DECISION NOW before its TOO LATE.
I got a second chance with my wife, my kids, the rest of my family. Don't regret not doing something. FIX IT NOW. Alot of people don't get that second chance. I did, and I hope to make the most out of it for many years to come.

Here is the Victory General Topic portion:
NO Victory Cross Country for a month at least. I must pass a stress test at the Dr. to get cleared for work. Then can ride bike as well. I'll miss it but at least I'm here so I'm sure I can wait.

Thanks for reading folk, Take Care.
Ride Safe,
Kerry

Smoke, glad you're still on top of the lawn, buddy. I have an incurable and very rare cancer, for which there is no known treatment. Twice, my Oncologist came up with the right stuff to knock it out - six years ago and one year ago. So, I also know how special life is. Get strong, lose that excess poundage, get them bad guys off the street and put lots of miles on your XC.

Smoke,
Glad your okay.
I went through something like that 8 years ago.
I was 49, 6'1 and only 225 - was having chest pains and ended up with a triple bypass,
Turns out I was on a drug that they pulled off the market 3 months after my surgery because it causes cardic problems.

I now look at life in a whole way.
Life is too short so enjoy it while you can.
That was in 04, in 06 started riding again after a 25 year hiatis.
Now I enjoy my grandchidren every chance I get and take the time to ride when ever the weather is good.
Usally do a long trip with guys and enjoy life in general.
Remember to take life one day at a time and enjoy every minute you can because you never know what tommorrw will bring.

Good to hear you are ok, and doing the changes. I recently stumbled on the family issue of diabetes. At 43 I was 254 when i got the DX, I'm now 246, totally cut on regular sodas, sugar is hovering 110 feeling better.

Change is the hardest thing, but when given those choices I go with the changes. Smoking is hardest for me, but I assume eventually that will happen

Amen Smoke! Glad you are OK - a month off the Victory is painful but little price to pay for your long term health.

Thank God for my wife....she changed my life for sure. I ate fast food every day and never worked out. Married now for 15 years, eating healthy and working out regularly thanks to her.

Scary stuff indeed. I'll be 42 in July and also work in law enforcement. I've always been able to eat what I wanted due to having a high metabolism. I've always been a lean guy but got up to about 215 lbs in my late 30's. The belly started to get big and I just got tired of it. My blood work was poor too. I made the decision then that I wasn't going down that road.
I changed my diet completely, started lifting weights, biking and running. Three years later, I'm still going. I'm now down to 170lbs and feel a ton better. The blood work is off the charts good as well.
One of the few benefits of working in law enforcement is an early retirement. I can go when I'm 50 if I choose. I plan to enjoy it for a long time.
