Published by Cyril Huze May 12th, 2012 in Builders, Editorial and Events. Woke up this Saturday morning at the same time Cory Ness was emailing me from Beijing, China (population of 19.5 million out of 1.3 billion in the country) the very first pictures of the Grand Opening of the first Victory store in China.
Arlen and Cory participated to the ceremonies and tell me that they sold all their Ness Signature bikes in a couple of hours while a very excited crowd was fighting to buy some Victory gear.
Cory commented that bikers flew from as far as Singapore as well as all over China to meet him and Dad and see the bikes. “Bikers are passionate about American motorcycles as well as our customs”. With taxes, duties and freight, new Victorys are more than double the cost as in the USA, but it doesn’t seem to matter much to Chinese enthusiasts…
What more exciting than an American motorcycle manufacturer drawing such an incredible amount of attention?
Although China, for well known legal and administrative reasons, has the justified reputation to be a very difficult market to penetrate for any foreign company, I have no doubt - nor Arlen or Cory - that Victory should do very well in this country.
How's this for role reversal...the Chinese get to see MADE IN THE US on a motrorcycle that has more American content than any other. The Chinese people have a great admiration for America, Americans and things American - Victory should do well there. Thanks for bringing that to our attention Bbob.

Awesome! I'm happy to see that an American company can actually sell EXPENSIVE products in China where cheap labor is abundant. I hope Polaris and Victory keep on growing and began employing more and more Americans pushing us back to more of a manufacturing mindset.
