Default Need Help..boot sole welded to pipe

As adamant as i am in telling my girlfriend to be careful, she melted her boot sole all over my chrome exhaust pipe. It's basically welded on, so I need some suggestions on how to remove it as painlessly as possible. Some things I heard of doing:

-Get it hot and scrape it off with a piece of wood or other soft object
-Use Goof Off
-Use Goo Gone
-Use Chrome polish

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Update..i found some Simichrome polish lying around and said what the heck I'll try it. After about 30 min of rubbing the stuff is GONE.

Thanks for the help..
