Default Hard to find good used Victories

I've haven't been riding for 10+ years, after some research I decided on a Victory KP. I've been looking for over a year (getting back into riding, I didn't want to spend the thousand for a new one). i have two dealers an hour away, with no used inventory. I found one at Power Brokers in Sioux Falls,SD (not a dealer) , an 05 KP with 9800 miles. I bought it and I love it. I think Victory could gain a lot of riders if they could get used bike at the dealers. I'm only 60 miles for Spirit Lake where they build Victories, I'd love to see more Victories on the road.

In the world of American built bikes you'll find that the majority of people that trade in or sell their bikes do it for 3 reasons:

Their bike is getting close to needing high dollar maintenace.
They can't afford to keep their bike.
They are upgrading to a newer model.

In todays economy motrcycle sales are down so trades are down. This means that it's harder to score a good deal because good trade ins are selling for close to the same price as new bikes.

I think the price is what keeps the Victory club pretty small. The "general" public seems to think that if they pay that kind of money, they should spend it on a Harley. I actually like the idea of having something rare. But that also has made it hard to find my first Vic on the used market, so I understand what you mean. In the end, we do want Victory to be successful.

Dunno, but it seems like there are plenty of V92's on the market at reasonable prices. I'm lusting after an '03-'05 TC and those are going for 5 grand and under with plenty of choices on ebay and Craig's List. It makes sense there would be fewer of the newer models available, though.

Found my first Vic on cycletrader.com. Funny that the owner had it posted for almost 2 months with no bites. He dropped the price but I was the only 1 in the following 2 weeks that came by. Of course I bought it right there. I have been following the 03-06 TC's on craigs list, ebay and cycletrader as I plan to buy another for a project bike and their there but I think that folks just ain't letting go of the bikes. Great machine, dependable and if it aint broke, don't sell it.

Debating a Victory Dealership... lol... I think the wife would kill me!

You can ship a bike anywhere in the country for around $600 and you don't even have to drain the fuel.

Ding, ding. Victory is a low volume dealer still and will be for awhile. The way they're set up, their only real competition is Harley. And Harley has such a stranglehold on that piece of mental real estate it's not even funny. Even people who have never ridden or even thought of think one name and one name only when they hear "motorcycle". And that name is Harley.

Victory hasn't been around long. And really, only about a decade in their current form (after they revamped and built a brand identity). They've been around long enough and have now made a foothold. Give them twenty years and I anticipate Victory going toe to toe with the likes of HD. Better bike or not, there are lots of intangibles in things like this.
