2009 was the last year for 5 speeds, and the 8-balls were the only one's that got 'em.

I rode a six speed a few weeks ago at a demo days, and honestly couldn't see trading it in just for the extra gear. The 100 CU/5 spd will run all day long at 75 - 80 and get you around 38 - 40 mpg's while doing it (if you're riding solo).

I'm concerned about loosing low end by changing the gear ratio.

I agree that 5 gears work fine. I ride about 250 miles a week back and forth to work at about 75 miles per hour. I have no problems..It runs at just over 3000 RPM. Although I get about 38mpg at 75. I get 42-44mpg when consistently riding under 65 mph.
