Default Stopped by new Indian/Vic/Polaris dealership yesteday

They finally opened the new Indian/Vic/4-wheeler/Slingshot dealership in Bristol VA this week so went over and checked it out. They had 7 or 8 Indians out front and one Vic Magnum. Inside was more Indians and one Scout and hidden in the back was 4 Vics (2 XC, 1 gunner, and 1 Vegas). I asked about the Vic lineup and the manager said more are coming but of course the emphasis will be put on the Indian line up. I was impressed with the clothing for the Indian line even though I personally don't care about free advertising, felt like a HD dealership. On a side note you won't believe how many people and kids were climbing all over these near $30k Indians and magnum. There is no way if was plopping down that kind of cash that I would buy one off the showroom floor. These new bikes were already scratched all to crap. I always ask a salesman before I sat on a bike but I guess most don't care. The better half did like the passenger seat and backrest/trunk on the loaded out Indian though, but a motorcycle that costs near as much as my new truck is kind of strange to me!

2011 Cross Roads Sunset Red
OEM short windshield, passenger backrest, crash bars, saddle bag bars, heated grips, vinyl closeouts, tachometer, ambient temp, LED headlight, luggage rack. WD lay down licence plate.

The interesting point is Vic/Indian dealers are deicating way more space in their buildings to Indian than to Victory. Every twin dealership I visit, the theme is the same. More space, more bikes, more accessories and more apparell is assigned to Indian.

2013 AG-XC:
Gustafsson +2 Euro Flip
JWSpeaker 8695 LED Headlight
Ma Vic (Black Tri-Ovals/S1 Package, pull backs, derby covers,
heated seat, bag bars, shorty antennae)
Ness Rad III mirrors, Avon heated grips, Wolo Bad Boy air horn
RICZ's LD PL8 bracket and lotsa blacked out stuff
GOODY'S fork mounted lowers (3M'd)
Bag graphics & inner fairing, Bad Boys Design Peoria, AZ.

Like Cycleworks now... They always had 4-5 Vic's on the floor and the rest side x side/atv/snowmobile/dirt bikes. Now Indian has 1/2 the showroom floor and lots of clothes.

I think you'll find that this is what Polaris is requiring the dealers to do. Victory has its nitch but Polaris wants to compete head up wiith HD and it's nostalgic look. Many HD owners just don't like the streamlined look of Victory.

And if I didn't love my bike, I would be looking at the Indian.

I am only 5'9" and after riding my XC everything feels cramped... I tried the chieftain and it just feels tiny compared to my XC. That being said I think for a second bike I would like a Darkhorse. I just bought a Kingpin for my dad, $6500 for a 2005 with 20,000km on it. 2 new tires, new battery, fresh oil change...

I used to think that Polaris would stick with Victory after they acquired the Indian name but after talking with the store manager I am starting to wonder. I have the same problem with the Indian bikes, they are too damn small for me. That is the biggest reason I bought my XR. Didn't know much about Victory a few years ago but the cross bike was the first bike I ever sat on that didn't need to be modified for my long legs.

Had a Kingpin... Loved that bike. Only reason I went to a Cross bike was the larger saddlebags.
