Default DO NOT remove clutch safety switch

as KevinX noted in my earlier post that 2010 on models loose the gear indicator when the switch is removed, i noted a 2,000 earlier rev limiter, Kev noted that as a soft rev limiter later on. earlier models are fine, but very early ones may get an engine light. should have checked with the pros first, at least its an easy fix with free labor by me!!! only cost is refreshments!!!

Thanks for the warning... I was just about to remove my Clutch ''SAFETY'' Switch....I have a habit of doing stupid things like that..

If you don't wave to them'
They won't wave back to you....

Default heading off issues

removing unnecessary future trouble spots is not stupid, it worked fine on my 2012 bonnie. the bonnie also has a problematic kick stand safety as well. the very helpful forchetto posted how to bypass in an emergency, good to know!! all bikes vary for sure + triumphs being overseas will soon have mandatory ABS, they will send them over here as well prolly. some safety goodies-the tipover switch can save your azz, killing the engine past a certain degree of lean. IMO many government mandated safety stuff is bull + only raises the cost to consumers. take TPM's, someone got greased $$$ to put this law into effect for sure!!! always glad to help as these great forums taught me a lot!!

One thing the clutch switch does as well is cancel the cruise control. Not sure how that would go if you pulled the clutch in with no switch going down the road at 70. Might rev a bit!

Cjh, Are you sure about this? I own three XCT bikes. On all of these either brake lever/pedal cancels the cruise as does rolling off the throttle. On all of these, the clutch safety switch works (can't start bike in gear with clutch lever not pulled in). On all three bikes, pulling the clutch lever does not shut off the cruise. If the cruise control is engaged and I pull in the clutch lever, the engine rpms take off as if the bike was still under cruise control and the green cruise light on the dash stays on.

I have used the clutch to cancel cruise numerous times. The brake and rolling off the throttle kills the cruise as well on mine. When you pull the clutch in, it revs for a split second then shuts off the cruise.

Ahh, revs and then shuts off the cruise. I probably panicked at the engine revving and hit the brake or the cruise power button. Thanks for the info.

Possibly the ECU disconnects the cruise as the revs rise, safety feature for if the rear wheel loses traction on water or ice.
