Default V2K to Victory- initial thoughts

New to the forum. Traded in my 2008 Vulcan 2000 LT for a new 2015 Cross Country. Just wanted to share some thoughts.

I really liked the overall ingenuity of the Victory designs and the integration of the hard bags, passenger backrest and the sharp lines of the XC. On the test ride I was not very impressed with the power. But I've come to learn that it was more me than the bike. On the controlled 15 min test ride I was shifting with the same pattern as my V2K. Fresh gas and 475 miles has helped resolve any performance concerns.

Although the initial test ride power left me unimpressed I also knew, from a few days of reading this forum, that the motor was pretty darn EPA-choked and stock form barely flirts with the motor's potential. This knowledge, combined with a lot of cool things about the Cross Country had me sold. I came home with it a week ago. Very glad I did.

The stock XC is only about 30 pounds lighter than my V2K was. Yet, the XC feels much lighter. And although I gave up 40 ft lbs of torque, it doesn't really feel like it. The XC power doesn't feel less, but simply a little different, and with lots of untapped potential. The LED headlight is quite amazing. The quick release passenger backrest is sweet. The RC Comp exhaust will continue to sound better as the miles rack up. The wheel upgrade hasn't happened yet because the dealer received the wrong color fender despite correct part number on the box. So the wheel has been delayed til the 500 mile service in a few days.

Anyhow, just wanted to share those couple of thoughts.

You are not going to get the same power out of the stock 106 as you will that v2k. That thing is an extreme power house.

Congratulations on the new bike though!

Howdy! Yeah, not same power but also doesn't feel like I really lost much. But I'm an easy rider so the XC thus far has done anything I asked of the V2K. The increased storage, cornering clearance and many other little things makes the XC pretty fun to ride.

First on the agenda is making new tips for the slip-ons to get a touch more exhaust exit velocity for regular daily riding.

I reworked my pipes. I cut the ends off, slammed in some Thrush pipes, cut a 2 1/4 exit on the outlet side, slid in some 2 1/4 exhaust tubing into the thrush pipes, welded it all shut and cut the ends to match the end caps. A little high temp paint and she is sounding great!
