Default Test ride comparison NOT what I expected

I'm brand new here and I do not own a Victory YET but I'm actively shopping and hoping to get one soon. The two models I've specifically been researching are the Vision and the Cross Country Tour. I test rode both on separate days with mixed feelings, then months later decided to rent both models for a day, switching between them mid-day to get a true "side-by-side" comparison. Thanks to Mom's of Manchester South (Foxboro Mass) for accommodating my wishes. I was super surprised by my findings.

Just by specs and all the anecdotal stories from Vision riders I expected to totally LOVE that bike's ride as much as I love it's appearance. I did not love it...in fact I was happy to get off it and get onto the Cross Country which seemed to fit me like a glove in every way. Whether it was just the way these particular rental bikes were set up, or some mechanical issue I was not savvy enough to see past, I found the Vision to be very windy, and quite noisy not only from the wind howling in my ears but from road and engine noise shooting up behind the faring. Yet everything I read about the Vision suggests it has awesome wind management...all I can say is I sure didn't experience it. I still want to love the Vision but that wind and road noise is killing my joy. Even with the windshield fully extended (above my head) the wind was barely tolerable for me and my passenger still reported getting blasted pretty bad. I should note the lower winglets on this bike's faring were missing - could that have made so much difference? So far I am thinking the Vision just won't fit my long torso, my head sits up too tall? (I am 6'1" / 32 inseam 250lbs and my rider is 5'6" size 8 130lbs).
Here's the Vision I rented:

Well anyway, after a couple hours on all types of roads, in town and on the highway, we took that Vision back and swapped it for a Cross Country Tour. By the time we got out of the parking lot and up to 40 mph my rider and I both commented in unison "WAY BETTER". It was quieter from both wind and road noise, so roomy for me, and much less wind on my passenger's head. And it remained much more calm and composed at any speed or type of road. Like I say I am shocked at this result. So shocked that I am thinking it was rigged some how - that my experience was not reflective of the true nature of the Vision but of some defect in it's setup. Have other tall riders found that the wind on the Vision just didn't cooperate?
Here is the CCT we rented:

Thanks for your input.

Rut Row Vision owners get perturbed if you have a bad word about their bikes.

Let the beating begin.

Default Test ride

Here is my 2 cents on the Vision. I came of a Goldwing after a year of riding. I have added the lower wind deflectors which make a big difference in the ride and changed the windshield for a flip windshield. My wife typically rides her own bike but has taken a long trip on back. I pulled a trailer and had the backrest on instead of the trunk. My wife was very comfortable for 2,500 miles.

If you are coming off a bike with a windshield or batwing fairing then you do have more noise on a fixed fairing. It is just the nature of the beast. I sure would hate giving up an adjustable windshield.

Your comment about a Vision being to small is interesting. I am 5'-9" with a 30" inseam and I think the CCT is tight.

In the end it is your choice which one you choose. Good luck!

it is obvious you prefer the vision and you made a mistake by not asking for a different one to ride as a comparison... even for a very short trip.

I'm the same size as you. My wife is 5'-9". We have plenty of room on the Vision. I don't smoke but if I did, I would have no problem with a lit cigarette while riding the bike at highway speed. I do have the lower deflectors but put them on to keep the legs cooler on hot days, not for buffeting. I found the XCT to be much more cramped, especially with the legs. I own a Vision so I am biased but for me it is a superior motorcycle when compared to a XCT or anything else for that matter.

Each of us are different, go with what fits you and your rider. Either ride is a good choice and give you years of trouble free miles. I've heard nothing but good things about Moms.

I'm 6' 3" and rode the Vision of my friend numerous times, the handling is just amazing ... The guy who own it is real short so the bike supposed not fitting me? I did not feel uncomfortable, all my friends smoke on the Vision .... When I ride the Vision it feels like a BMX bicycle (this is positive) it's just rides sooo light.

And the Vision gets more looks then a CC

Wind noise I do not know as I ride a Jackpot with exhaust so unbelievable noisy that car alarm ring a bell when I accelerate on a parking lot ... Not nice ....

So you're telling us the cross country doesn't have hwy noise or wind noise. An the vision does.
I think your here to compare the two bikes and are asking about them in a none traditional manner.
I love my vision and think you full of it. The CC is ok but not for me.
6' 1" is nothing there are a lot of vision riders taller then you shorty
