Default Gas Mileage - First Tank

We were able to put some miles on the bike this weekend. We did not go too far but the ride was enjoyable after a winter.

The first tank of gas since we bought the 08 Vegas.

145 miles and 11.8 litres (3.13 gallons, which is 46.3 mpg, or 55.4 CDN MPG. Mostly back roads and cruising 50-60 mph

Thought that was pretty good, wonder how much that drops at Highway speeds.

I usually get between 38-43 miles per gallon but I am usually blasting right through the 50-60 miles per hour range

Sigh. I only got 100 miles on my first tank before the warning light came on. But I didn't fill it. Maybe the dealer shorted me a bit

Possible snow tomorrow so I might have to wait for Sunday to "test" a real full tank of gas.

My dealer shorted me as well. I only got about 96 miles before my fuel light lit up on my 08 Jackpot. I put in 3.5 gallons of 93 octane and got 132 miles before the light came on again and I put 3.7 gallons in then.

Well the dealer did not short anybody. Vic only provides for 2 gallons in the set up. If you got more then that...THANK the dealer for the extra

Another thing that I just figured out is that in the cross bikes, Mother Vic has put a splash guard/nosel holder in the tank. This is NOT the full level. The tank will take another 1.3 gallons of fuel past that. I have read that some guys can only get 3.5 gallons in their bikes. I put 4.8 gallons in yesterday 5 minutes after the fuel light came on.

While I am immensly thankful for the wonderful motorcycle they made for me. For as much as we all paid for them they should come with a full tank.

On my bill there was a $15 charge for gas, that's about 15 litres of the cheap stuff or 13 premium litres. That's about 4 gallons so I hope they put in what they charge me. Not really complaining but that would be fair right?

So I have now filled up about 4 times and I am still sitting around 34-37 mpg per tank.

I am riding all back roads between 50-60mph. I don't get on the throttle too much and shift right at the recommended shift points most times. What are you guys doing to get the most out of your bike as far as mpg goes?
