Default Judge swept pipes

Hi, I am new to victory, I just purchased a used 2013 Judge (my third bike ever) and I am in love. However, I have looked at a lot of pictures and can't find any other judges with the flat black swept pipes. I think they are original pipes because they are not very loud. Can I get some opinions? Are these factory, aftermarket, can I remove the baffles?

Not stock. They are the Victory brand Crossbow Stage 1 pipes. I've read about people modifying the baffles to get better sound out of them.

Is the air filter stock or just a K&N and is there a tuning module under one of the side covers?

Generally at least 3 things have to happen to get more power and better sound. A freer flowing exhaust and air filter and a tuner to bring it all together. Depending on the tuner you may want to install a Lloydz timing wheel.

After that, depending on how far you want to go with it, you can install cams and have it dyno tuned.

Thanks for the reply BBOB. I bought the bike yesterday. Haven't had a chance to fiddle around with it and the Harley dealer didn't give me any info on it. I have to pull the tank to check the air filter, correct? Give me a couple days to investigate. In the meam time I am enjoying the hell oit of it commuting to work. Typically, if one were to install these pipes, would the do the other upgrades as well?

No. More than likely the Victory dealership installed their version of a stage one tune that came with the pipes. A K&N type air filter may have come with it too. It should be in front of the tank. Honestly, from what I've read, there is no net performance gain from doing all this. The pipes do look cooler than stock though.

I made the same mistake when I put a set of 2-1 on an 09 Jackpot I bought new. Ran like crap and only got 1.5 hp out of a $1000 addon. Total rip.

I don't think I have a Judge service manual but you can get whatever is closest from the link below in my sig line.

If you're happy with it the way it is I'd just run it like that while you get used to the bike and read up on any available upgrades. The Judge was kind of an orphan within the now orphaned Victory's. They didn't sell many and some parts didn't interchange with other steel frame bikes. You definitely don't want to lose either side cover. Too hard to replace.

It's a learning process. You'll get it. Here is a link to a 2012 Vegas service manual. That's probably as close as I have.

I have a 2013 black Judge. Have had it since July 2017 and have replaced a lot of things on it to get it like I want it. It had about 21 K on it when I got it. The 2012 Vegas manual works well with the Judge. That is what I have used. You should come out much better buying your bike from a dealer rather than an individual like I did. I bought mine as it was. My bike had not been maintained very well and had been stripped down by the previous owner. It did have a K % N filter but it was covered with dirt, but cleaned up nicely. I have since replaced the air Filter with the Lloyd's round filter which requires replacing the stock air box. No mufflers [just headers] when I got it, weird mini ape grips handlebars which I replaced with Vegas one, all the stock directional signals lights front and back were gone and replaced with some weird small lights.but I have replaced with stock now. It also had some very small bat wing mirrors etc which I replaced with stock mirrors. The main problem you will have when you start changing the exhaust system and the air filter is the decel pops. But I understand that is a problem that all Victorys have to some extent. I was able to buy a set of stock mufflers off e bay but they were too quiet so I first drilled them out and a got a better sound. I later acquired a set of 3" RC add ons. Also have added a fuel manager. Still tuning my bike and switching between the drilled stock exhaust mufflers and RC add ons trying to find the best combination. I have been tuning it for a while and just about have it right now. Runs smoother and better with the drilled out stock exhaust, but better sound with the RC. It is a compromise. My advice is to ride it awhile and get to know your bike before you start changing it too much. Good luck. By the way, there is no after market seat for the 13. The 13 uses a one piece seat and the 14+ has a two piece seat. Also the side panels on the 13 are unique to it. If you change to the 14 seat you have to change the side panels and if you can find them they are very expensive.

Thank you guys for the information. I guess It's safe to say that I just aquired a pretty rare ride. I'm going to throw some hard bags and a set of highway bars on it and just ride it and maintain it. I dont think I need to do any kind of performance upgrades just yet, she's pretty damn fast as is. The motor has a bit of a valve tick on the rear head, Is that normal? Only a few weeks left of riding here in Alaska, I'll throw some fresh oil in her in the spring and see if it quiets down.

The valve tick is a hydraulic lifter. Mine do it when they've been sitting for a while but then it goes away after 20 seconds or so. If yours doesn't go away then you will need to change out that bad lifter at some point or live with the tick which will likely get worse.

Any idea what kind of oil you're running? If not it may not be a bad idea to change the oil before you park it for the winter and to find out if it can make a difference in that lifter tick.

What kind of oil is a whole 'nother conversation. Just make sure it's at least a synthetic blend in the right weight range. For AK you could probably get away with a 5w40. The lighter cold side weight oil may even help with the tick.

I just read that if you have a valve tick, then accelerate trough the gears to 5k RPM and that airpocket will go away ...

Welcome. Here is how to check oil. Stand bike up screw dipstick in then out for reading.
When you change leave on kickstand and let it drain.
