Default LED bulb position in headlight

Hi all, last year I upgraded my Vision headlight bulbs to LED. The bulbs don't have a fan or a solid heatsync like most they have flexible braided bands attached to the lamps allowing easy installation. The bulbs have emitters on two sides and the bulb can be turned within the fixture. Any idea as to the best position to have the bulbs turned? Light from the sides or up and down? The intensity of the emitters are great but don't simply turn on one side for low and both for high The are both dim or full

The light elements need to be horizontal. Get the bike vertical - I use a scissors/platform jack - and with the light shining on a wall or garage door, align the bulbs.

Thanks, that's how I have them. I just wanted to confirm as turning them is not so simple. So having the LED emitters facing sideways is correct.
