Default Helmet Recall from Head Trip/Advanced Carbon Composites

Hey All,

I was up in Erie this weekend for the Roar on the Shore bike rally and a guy saw the half-lid I was wearing and told me that it was part of a massive recall.

It turns out that the company, Head Trip, is gone, the Web site is gone, and getting the refund they offered is now impossible. Advanced Carbon Composites is still making helmets but they are no longer motorcycle helmets.

Turns out that the NHTSA tested the products from Head Trip that claimed to have DOT certification and they all failed the testing. So it seems that Head Trip has been fraudulently claiming a safety standard they never had AND charging a lot of money for an unsafe product.

This may well be old news to everyone out here but if not, and you own an ACC helmet, it's time to stop wearing it and buy a new one.

This is a perfect example why one should stick with a name brand helmet like Arai, Shoei, Bell or similar.....I see Harley guys with $50,000+ into their bike and a $10 helmet that I would not use as a dog bowl
