It all depends on what you want. I seldom worry much about road rash on selecting gloves. For summer sun protection, even some cheap jersey gloves for $1.50 at a local Walmart work great. For winter warmth, I look at snowmobile gloves. They are made to keep your hands warm with a cold wind blowing across them. When you put them behind a decent fairing, I find them good down to about 25F for short, less than 30 minutes, rides.
