I took a little cruise around MT: Great Falls - Missoula - Kalispell - Great Falls. Thought I'd share...
I rode my Cross Country Tour and had a GREAT time!
First off, the bike was amazing. I left the trunk at home but the saddlebags provided enough storage. The temperatures were a bit on the warm side, and sometime in the future, I'll probably invest in an evaporative vest. I was able to easily set cruise control between 75-85 and the bike handled flawlessly. I only hit a short stint of rain and could see how rain comes through the opening. On the way home, I went a bit slower just to better enjoy the scenery--which I could've stopped and took a picture around every corner. Here are some pictures for your review:
I saw two Victories during my trip--both Cross Countries. And, I saw, one million Harleys....LOL. Seriously, they were everywhere. Nonetheless, it was great just for everyone to be out on the road!
Thoughts on the equipment I used.
- I used a Kuryakyn Gran Cruise Bag for on my tank. I used the same bag for a trip last year and find it very convenient. It has a large, expandable bottom pocket which I place my Camelbak 3L reservoir filled with ice/water. With my modular helmet, I'm able to raise the front and take a drink whenever needed. There's a smaller top pocket which can hold a fair amount of stuff. I place my phone, wallet and other miscellaneous stuff in there. In the very top, I insert my directions which can be seen through the case.
- My seat was fairly comfortable temperature. I've attached heat reflective tape to the bottom side and azleather heat shield. Together, my seat stayed regular temp. A couple times after riding for an extended time and then getting off, I immediately placed an ungloved hand on my seat and didn't really feel any heat. If anything, just a tad amount of increased heat near my right leg but nothing serious. I do plan on buying the pad recently discussed on here to increase ventilation, though.
- I used Cee Baileys bag liners. They worked great and made packing very easy. I thought compression straps on the inside would be a nice touch and left/right markings but none of that was really necessary. Great product and good customer service! http://www.ceebaileys.com/bags/victory_bags_01.html
Glad to own a Victory!!! Awesome machine and am VERY happy with my purchase!
