BBob is right that you should find a demo tour-- just look the schedule up on the web- we had one here last month and it was GREAT,I got to ride all the bikes as many times as I wanted- several of us rode most of the day.
Of all the bikes I rode I liked the Vegas best(they are all Vegas Low models now they just don't call them low as in previous years). Then the vision and then the hammer- the only one I didn't ride was the KP- in hind sight should have tried that one but I just hate them fenders. The Vegas was comfortable and an easy ride for me.
I own a JP and its OK for tooling around town or riding a couple of hours- but no storage space at all. I feel its the best looking bike out there and performs well also which were important for me. If I was going shopping or going to make a 5 hour ride to Atlanta or Mobile then I would have bought the Vision-- I did not like either of the X bikes.
Its all a matter of personal preference and practicality-- what are you going to use it for.
If you end up buying a bike- I can tell you that an exhaust upgrade coupled with a S&S intake/reprogram does wonders for it.
